"Why are you shivering?" Alfred asked. He was looking at Matthew. "You're never cold- can ghosts even feel the cold?"

Matthew was huddled under his blankets. He paid no attention to Alfred. Instead, his eyes were focused on (Y/n) who had her hand on Matthew's neck. "We've got to get this done quick." He said through his teeth. "It gets colder everyday and I really can't stand it much longer."

"Dads are trying to find a long weekend to drive up to Banff so I don't miss any scho-" Alfred started to say.

"Fuck your schooling!" Matthew cut him off. (Y/n) quickly retracted her hand from his neck. "The next long weekend that comes around... it'll be too late. I'll be stuck here forever!"

"Matt-" Alfred scooted across the bed to get closer to his brother.

"Shut up, Gilbert!" Matthew hissed, glaring towards a corner of his room.

"W-who's Gilbert?" (Y/n) asked hesitantly. Her hand sought Matthew's under the blanket. It was ice cold.

Matthew closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry for yelling..." He apologized mournfully. "Gilbert is another ghost. He's been trapped for twenty years."

There was a silence. Alfred looked uncomfortable at the idea that there was another ghost in the room.

"Move over." (Y/n) said, lifting Matthew's blankets and sliding under them. She pressed her body up against Matthew's. She let go of the glasses so it was only Alfred holding them now.

Even though she couldn't see Matthew, she could feel his cold skin pressed up against her's. "He wants to know what you're doing."Alfred conveyed.

"Well your not producing your own body heat so these blankets are essentially useless." She placed her head on Matthew's shoulder... or what she assumed was his shoulder. "I figured I'd lend you some of my warmth."

"I'm sorry for yelling today." Matthew hung his head as he apologized.

"You're scared." (Y/n) shook her head. "It was bound to happen at one point." She crawled into bed.

Matthew walked over to her window and looked out at the dying ash tree. Half of it had died now.
