"Take the glasses." (Y/n) said, pressing them into Alfred's palm.

"Why?" He asked, hesitantly taking them.

"I can't watch him degenerate like that." (Y/n)'s throat tightened. "I just need a break." She was glad she couldn't see Matthew at the moment. He was probably heartbroken. Guilt would have pushed her to take the glasses back but she just couldn't.

"And you think it's easier for me?" Alfred accused. "He's my dead brother."

"Put them in your locker then." (Y/n) suggested before swiftly walking towards her class, leaving Alfred and Matthew behind.

"I thought you didn't want to see me." Matthew sneered as soon as Alfred handed (Y/n) the glasses before heading home. Alfred had come over after school to help (Y/n) with some math homework.

"Matthew..." (Y/n) looked at the ground.

"No you know what," He threw his hands up. "I don't want to see you either. Give the glasses back to Alfred."

Tears sprung to her eyes. "No please-"

"No." Matthew looked away. "The living, breathing, girl doesn't want to see the cold, dead guy." He shrugged. "I get it. Makes perfect sense."

"That's not it!" (Y/n) interjected. "I just couldn't watch you suffer!"

Matthew laughed sharply. He was acting strangely. Cruel almost. "So I was wrong." He turned, his violet eyes boring into hers. They were so cold. "Here I was thinking you were a sadistic bitch. I mean, why else would a complete stranger want to help me 'find peace' or whatever." He used air quotes.

There was a moment of silence. (Y/n) could barely see she had teared up so much. Matthew's eyes didn't soften. "Asshole!" (Y/n) yelled, hurling the glasses at her wall.

The lenses shattered and fell to the ground in a rain of glass. (Y/n) scowled down at the mess for a few seconds before realizing what she had done. "Oh my god." She rushed over and sank to her knees, fumbling with the glasses. She looked around the room for Matthew but he wasn't there. "Matthew?" She called, her voice shaking.
