Hey guys! Mighty Lee here! I'm NOT GOING to discontinue the story lol. In fact, I just finished chapter 13 so enjoy!

Deep Within {13}

Chapter 13 {Where The HECK is Phoenix?}

Jane's POV

"Well can't you do ANYTHING! You can't just send your men down there to look for her!" The cost guard shakes his head.

"I'm sorry sir, the hole closed back up. We tried to dig, but it won't budge. There's nothing else we can do. Scientists are doing all they can. But I'm afraid we won't be able to find you daughter."

Mike Nods and closes the door after the man. He turns toward me. His eyes were glossy. Seeing him like this made me want to cry.

"I-i-i should have been there. I-i-i-it's all my fault!"

I grab him by the neck, pulling him into a hug.

"It's not you're fault. It's not anyone's fault. We just have to hope and pray they find her. If not, she lives in memory."

"I lost her mother, I can't lose her too!"

I pull away from him and lift his chin with my two index fingers.

"You won't. I have an idea. You stay here and watch them work. I'll be right back."

He tilts his head, but nods showing he trusts me.

I hope this works...

I walk behind the laboratory truck.

"It's got to be magic! I've never seen anything like this before!"

"Are you out of you're fudging mind Sinzer! Get back to work! Don't you want to get paid!"

"But-"

"WORK!"

The man who was yelling walked away towards the mystery sight.

I walked towards the man named Sinzer.

"Excuse me?"

His eyes widened and he grabs me behind the laboratory truck and whispers,

"You're not supposed to be here!"

"But I need help! There is security footage on the Bonjovie street. I need you to help me hack it!"

He hesitates but grabs me towards a Minnie Cooper.

We both get in and he starts the car.

He backs out slowly and drives where no one can see.

Finally we head on the road. And too my surprise, no one caught us.

"I heard you say something about magic. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but, do you think that's it is?"

"Well, there's no other logical resolution. I'm not quite sure though. But it's a thought. I always used to believe in magic growing up. People said I was crazy. But something is telling me that's exactly what has swallowed your daughter."

"She's not my daughter, actually. I wish she was, but she isn't. I love that kid though. I guess stepmoms just HAVE to be evil."

"Want a suggestion? Ask why she isn't fond of you."

"You think that will work?"

"Most stepchildren respond with communication."

I smile.

"Thanks!"

"You're welcome! I got kids of my own, I know how you feel. But she'll warm up to you. We're here."

We hop out of the car and walk into the control building.

Sinzer sits at the security computer and pulls up the footage.

"What time did she go to the party?"

"Umm....7:36?"

He nods and pulls up the footage.
There was nothing there for a few minutes, but soon enough Phoenix walked outside with a boy.

"Phoenix, wait! What's wrong don't you feel the same way?"

"I can't
think right now Sam, I'm just gonna sit in the car and think about it okay?"

The ground started shaking and cracking. The Boy was telling Phoenix to come over to him but she couldn't move.

The ground caves in and Phoenix falls through.

But something catches my eye.

"Sinzer rewind that part again?"

He nods and I tell him to pause it.

I couldn't believe what I saw. It was a shadow of a woman breaking the ground.

Sinzer must have saw it too because he stared at the screen wide eyed.

"Do you think someone did this? But why?"

He shuts off the computer and say,

"I don't know, but you and I are about to figure it out."
