My mind kept going back to the names as I ran, the faces circling my head taunting me. Back in grade school kids were never like this. In kindergarten kids wouldn't get mad unless you took something from them. But after that kids got bored and started wanting something more, some bad blood. So they would find the one kid who had everything wrong with them. And that kid was always me.

I wish that I could fly away, screw all the other kids and have a friend. Is that too much to ask for? I sat down on a stump and went into my bag to grab some water. A cold chill of wind shivered through my body. I turned my head away from the wind. Something in the distance that looked like an egg, all black, I hoped I was right.

I started running quickly. It was an egg! It looked completely abandoned, no nest or mother and it was quite big. I put it in my bag and walked the rest of the way home.

I walked down the gravel road mom sitting on the porch biting her nails. I ran down a little faster. "Oh my god Lukas! Where have you been? I was so worried!" She hugged me with a terrified face. "Mom, I'm okay, I just had a bad first day." I told her. She sighed in relief and held open the front door for me. I set down my backpack very carefully, hoping the egg wouldn't crack. It seemed pretty firm like an owl egg, but was to big to be a bird.

I sat down and drank some water, exhausted from carrying the heavy egg around the forest. I wanted to examine it but couldn't let anybody see it. Lizzy ran out of our small little room "Lukey!" I got up and hugged her. "Why did you leave? I made a friend at school her name is Maddie." Lizzy told me. "That's great!" She walked away to go play with her toy.

I finished my glass of water and picked up my backpack. "Mom I will be back in a little bit, explore the town a little..." I hated lying to mom but I couldn't let anybody know about the egg. "Okay hunny, be back around 6:15 for dinner. Dinner will be about 7:00 but you need to get cleaned up. "Okay mom, thanks!". I walked out the door.
