PONY'S P.O.V.
I sat there in the hospital waiting room waiting. (As you would in a waiting room) Amber had been admitted about two hours ago and they won't tell us what's going on. The only thing they said is that they can't find any record of an "Amber Peterson" anywhere. That's why they can't tell us anything because they would only talk to a legal guardian. We tried to explain that her parents had died, but they couldn't find anything on her.
So I sat in the waiting room, waiting. The rest of the gang was there too, except Dallas. Two-Bit, Soda, and Steve flipped through magazines and Johnny fiddled with his fingers while the rest of the gang quietly talked. I, on the other hand, just sat, staring at the wall. Watching every nurse and doctor that passed by, hoping it would be Amber's. So I'll I could do was wait. Until I started thinking. I thought about how everything had played out, and against my will, I relived it in my head.
*FLASHBACK FROM PONY'S P.O.V.*
After I hit my head I fell asleep. I didn't want to, but I did. I was then awoken by the cheering and running of the gang. My eyes slowly opened and I looked to see what all the fuss was about. I saw the gang crowd around something and then them being pushed aside. Amber. She looked hurt and starved, and tired. But I didn't see that. Even though her yellow sundress was dirty and ripped, and her blue sweater was missing, I thought she looked beautiful. Her hair was scraggly and her dark curls became tangles, but I thought she never looked better. She was limping but was limping towards me. I couldn't help but smile like a fool. I jumped up and over the car doors to get to her faster. Everything left my mind except her. She was the only thing I needed, the only thing I wanted. I have craved her touch, and now she was standing ten feet from me. I took off running to her and the first thing that touched was our lips. It was amazing. Better than anything I could have imagined. Everything else went away and it was just us.
I was in denial that this was real. It was too good to be true. I placed my hands around her waist to make sure it was in fact real. She was there. I broke the kiss and we exchanged 'I love you's'. Then the kiss continued. I never wanted it to end. But then It did. She pulled away rapidly and I was about to ask her why when she screamed. I was shocked. I couldn't move. I just got her back and now she was gone again. She fell to the ground and I just watched her. "Damn it Ponyboy move!" I thought to myself. I wanted to go to her side but I couldn't move. The gang started to take notice and ran over. Soda slid to her on his knees and cradled her head in his hands. She had her eyes open. She had her eyes open but her look was empty, it was hollow and meaningless. Those were not the beautiful eyes I know. I still stood there motionless as Darry picked her up and brought her to his car. He put her down in Soda's lap and jumped in the driver's seat. Soda yelled to me but I couldn't move. I just had her in my arms, I just felt her lips on mine.... And now I couldn't touch her in fear of just hurting her more. Then in annoyance, Two-Bit picked me up and threw me into the back seat.
The gang had explained everything to the police officer and luckily he understood. He even gave us an escort to the hospital. The ride was short and by the time we got there I had regained the use of my legs. I ran along with Darry who was holding Amber as he yelled for help in the lobby. They then took her back into the hospital. So we all sat down in the waiting room and began our long wait.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
I shuttered at the memory that had only happened hours ago. I looked up at the clock that hung over us. 3:43 it read. It was really late and I hadn't been doing any sleeping. Not like I could. Not with Amber in critical condition like this. My head nodded. My eyes became heavy and my breaths deep and even. Soon my head nodded to the side and I couldn't bounce back up. I fell asleep.
