Chapter 18

It was time. Time for me to tell her. The only way to tell is through me and only me. No one else in the way. No one else not letting me speak. No one else to stop me from this mission. I took a deep breathe.

"Ok. Here goes nothing."

I knocked on the door and waited.

"Dang it. I can't do this."

As I turned myself around, I heard the door open.

"Oh! Hey Henry."

I turned around and saw Ruby. She gives me the cutest smile that she is glad to see me.

"Hey Ruby."

"Do you need anything?"

"Uh. Yeah. I-I need to ask you something."

"Sure. Hold on a sec."

Ruby came out of her room and closed the door.

"So, what is it that you want to ask me?"

"Ok."

I took a deep breathe. And finally, I speak.

"Look. You know about the dance coming soon right?"

Ruby nodded.

"I was wondering of you would like to... to..."

I stop. Come on Henry. Stop being a total idiot and ask her!

"Willyougooutwithmetothedance?!"

Ruby's eyes went wide, but went back to normal.

"What?"

"Will you go out with me to the dance?"

Ruby was surprised.

"But. If you don't want to. That's ok."

Ruby thinks for a moment. She was about to say something, but closed her mouth quickly. Well, I guess that means no then. I tried.

I sighed and out my head down in guilt. I shouldn't had said nothing about it. This could effect our friendship. I turned around and started to walk away.

"Yes."

I stopped and froze. Did she said what I think she said?!

I turned around with a surprise look on my face.

"What?"

Ruby smiled again.

"Sure. I would like to go to the dance with you."

Aaaaggghhh!

I felt my heart burst into joy. But I have to keep it cool.

"Ok. Ok. Cool. Cool."

Ruby giggled at my reaction.

"Well. I'll see you then."

"Yeah."

Ruby went back to her room. I walked away. As I was now close to my room, I made a little dance.

Suddenly, the door opens and Olive looks at me confused.

"Henry. What the heck are you doing?"

I ran inside.

"I did it!"

"Did what?!"

"I asked her out!"

Olive gasps.

"You did?!"

"Yep!"

"Aaaaaaagghh!"

"Aaaagghh!"

"Aaaaaaagghh!"
