Alice and I carried all the stuff onto the bus, ignoring all the strange looks we were getting. We sat at the top just to be awkward carrying all the stuff up and down the stairs. I think people mistaken us for a lesbian couple or something, considering we were two teenage girls. Together. With baby stuff. But everyone should no by now that two girls can't have a baby together.
"So. Where you planning on keeping all the stuff when it arrives?" I asked
"In my wardrobe," Alice laughed
"You think a cot and buggy will really fit in your wardrobe?"
"Well it will have to won't it?"
"Don't break it in the process though, I paid good money on those,"
"I won't. It will be in a box anyway so it should store easier,"
I grabbed a hold of my shopping bags leaving Alice empty-handed and then moaning about it on the way back. Also nearly tripping down the stairs on the bus. We arrived at her front door and as she put the key in the keyhole the door flung open with her mum bursting through it.
"Hello darling's," She said giving us both a massive hug
"Ummm, hi mum?" Alice said confusingly
"What you got there?" She said trying to peer into my bags
'Get lost you nosey bitch' I felt like saying but stopped myself from being the rude one.
I tighten my bags together in fist and followed Alice as she lead me upstairs.
I pulled out the white tiny baby-grow as I flopped down onto Alice's bed. My eyes filled with tears as I looked at the small feet attached to the baby-grow which will soon be filled with my own baby's feet.
Alice wiped the tears from my eyes. "You'll be a great mum,"
"Am I really ready though?"
"Of course you are, I'll be here all the way, and when the baby is born and everyone know's so will they, trust me!"
I sniffed as I put the babygrow back into the bag and placed the bag on the floor.
"Jackson get out of my room!" Alice shouted as her younger brother came running through her doorway.
"Umm no," He laughed and came bouncing on the bed
I looked at him and smiled as all his energy was unreal.
"Well hello there sweet cheeks," He said giving me a wink
"Umm..... hi?" I replied awkwardly
He came and sat literally on my lap and Alice came over and pulled him off by his tshirt collar.
"I'm telling mum!" He shouted
On his way out he gave me the hand signal for 'call me' and quickly had a glance inside my bag.
"Ohhhh, what's in there then?" He asked suspiciously
"Something for my mum," I replied
"Looks like baby stuff to me, you can check if its mine if you like," He said giving me a very cheeky grin.
I suddenly felt uncomfortable and stood up sharply. Jackson's eyes widened as thoughts flew through his brain. "MUUUUMMMM!" He shouted whilst running down the stairs
"Quick hide the stuff..... NOW" Alice said opening her wardrobe doors
I flung my bags into the wardrobe as the footsteps coming up the stairs got faster. Alice slammed the door and we both crashed down on the bed as her mum stepped foot into her room.
"What's this about a baby?" She said looking concerned
"Excuse me?" Alice replied
"Baby?"
"No baby here, just me and a friend as you can see?"
"Your brother don't lie like that,"
"Well clearly he does,"
She looked over at me and stared at me with evil eyes.
"Let me do a search then," Her mum said starting to scavenge through her room.
I looked over at the wardrobe nervously. 'Please don't let her see it!'
