I took Mitch's hand as we got out of the car. We had been to the shops and collected some bits and bobs for a picnic. We both walked to the back of the car and Mitch lifted the car-seat out. Alfie was sleeping but that didn't stop us from taking him out somewhere.
Whilst Mitch took Alfie to our picnic spot, I grabbed the basket from the back of the car. I carried the basket to where my two boys were sitting and placed it down. I opened the latch and picked out the blanket that was wrapped inside. Once the blanket was rolled out, I threw the basket in the middle.
"We didn't have to do this you know, we could of just gone straight to mums." I said. Mitch stopped looking at Alfie and turned to face me.
"I wanted to take you out, maybe get our mind of the things that are to come." He took my hand and kissed it. He made his way up my arm and pressed his firm warm lips to mine. "Who's hungry?" he said pulling away. He looked back at Alfie. "You hungry little man," he said, gripping Alfie's hand. He didn't wake up. "Nice dream you must be having,"
"I can't feed him yet can I?" I said, frowning at Mitch.
"No one is around,"
"That's not the point, the point is that he isn't even awake yet," I replied. Mitch didn't comment back and took out a sandwich from the basket. I took one out to and started to much on my cheese and ham sandwich. I had nearly finished when I felt someone wet slide down my face. I glanced over at Mitch who was in hysterics.
"Niiiice," he laughed. I ran my hand down my face and peeled off a slice of cucumber from my cheek. I picked out a piece of ham that was in the last slither of sandwich and lobbed it at Mitch.
"You wanna play like that do ya.... well then.... bring it on biatch!" He took a lemonade can out of the basket and shook it.
"You wouldn't!" I yelled.
"Oh... I would..." he replied, pointing the can in my direction. Before I could move, he opened the can up and it sprayed lemonade all over me. I screamed as the lemonade covered my clothes and me in its sticky substance. I crawled over the blanket towards Mitch.
"Give me a hug," I said sarcastically.
"Get away from me sticky lady," he laughed. I ignored him and came crashing down on top of him. I wrapped my arms around his waist and got him soaking too. "Eurgh!" I heard from beneath me. I took two more pieces of cucumber from his half-eaten sandwich and placed them on his eyes. I grabbed my phone and took a few pictures before I was flipped backwards.
"You didn't want to do that!" Mitch cried out. Before I could think, Mitch shook his head and all the lemonade came flying off his hair like a wet dog. I screamed again and smacked his chest. "Your not going anywhere young lady!"
Before he could do anymore I was brought back into reality when I heard a little cry escape Alfie's lips. "Someone's hungry," I said, sitting up and pushing Mitch off of me. He sat back and watched as Alfie had his lunch. "Something intriguing?" I asked. He shook his head and continued to stare. Once Alfie was filled up I placed him back in his car-seat.
"Can I finish eating now?" Mitch asked, looking towards me. He goes to take another bite of his demolished sandwich when I threw a bit of cheese at him.
"Now I am done," I giggled. We both settled down and continued eating our lunch. "How should we tell my mum?"
"Just be straight with her Ali," Mitch replied. He dunked his hands into his packet of cheese and onion crisps and pulled out a big one. "Whoa, I think I have made a new record here," he said, gazing at the crisp.
I laughed and pushed myself towards him snapping the crisp in half with my hand. "You're nasty you know that?" Mitch told me, looking sad.
"That's why you love me," I replied, putting on a cheesy grin.
"Yep... I do love you Ali," I looked at him and he put on a really sweet smile.
"And even though you're a pain in the ass, I love you too," I leaned over and kissed him again. More forceful though this time. "Maybe we can have more kids?" I asked, knowing I was pushing him to the limit.
He laughed nervously. "Maybe..."
I giggled at his nervousness and stood up. "Well... we need to get this done sooner or later,"
He agreed and picked up all the remaining food and squashed it all down in the basket, along with the wet blanket. I was made to carry the basket again whilst Mitch carried the baby. I could see it now, that Mitch was going to make and excellent father. And husband.
We all got settled in the car and Mitch started the car. "Isn't this your dads car?" I laughed.
"Yep, I stole it when I was mad with him. Another reason I don't want to go home just yet," he looked at me and winked. He was so good looking. I could just lean over and eat him up.
"No matter what happens with your parents Ali, you'll still have a family," he said, looking over at Alfie and then patting his chest. "We both will always love you,"
