It turns out that getting yourself de-cloudified isn't really possible. So I couldn't really be human and enjoy Narnia.

I was floating for a couple days as a cloud, visiting everywhere and taking it all in. Everything I had been missing was right here, and I can't believe I even left in the first place.

I floated between trees, racing nature spirits and making dustdevils. Only stuff you can do as a cloud.

On the fourth day, I went to the Narnian port. In the land of Narnia, there were actually different countries. Narnia belonged to more than just Narnians now.

I was skimming along the water's surface, giggling to myself as I swirled up beneath a dock, and when I shot up I glimpsed Caspian holding onto his coat as my wind trail tried to grasp it away.

Caspian.

He's alive. He's still King. I smiled as best my cloud-self could, swooping down gently and hovering in front of him, bringing a slightly misty fog with me.

"The journey will be great if this fog goes away, Your Highness." Caspian waved his arms in front of him, passing through me and making me laugh because it tickled.

"Well, Lord Drinian," Caspian shouted back, climbed up onto the classic Narnian ship, "if it lifts as sudden as it came, I don't think we'll have a problem." Caspian turned back and stared right through my form, and I jumped.

Could he see me?

....

Cloud-like forms wear clothes, right?

I just waved like he could see me, circled the ship once, and took off into the sky, weaving in between clouds and choosing a fluffy one to lay on.

Caspian's leaving. Why on earth would Caspian leave?

I decided to keep the ship in my sites as it headed off, cutting swiftly through the water and away from the beautiful homeland of Narnia.

It was nighttime and I was transparent, yet oddly glowing with an opaque hue.

Like a star.

I had followed The Dawn Treader into foreign waters. She was just gliding along now, barely pitching. It put me at ease to see the gentle rocking of the ship, so I was all but asleep when the light, sweet voice spoke right next to me.

"Having fun?" I almost screamed at the voice next to my ear.

"AH!"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you knew I could see you. My name is Lilliandil." I gaped at the woman in front of me.

She had delicate, feminine features, long blonde hair, and startling blue eyes. She had a gorgeous dress on, and her entire being radiated celestial light. I realized that the hue was identical to mine, except hers was brighter and more beautiful. In fact, most of our features were similar, but she was infinitely more georgeous.

She had a calm, collected, mature and elegant way about her, paired with surpassing beauty and light.

She was a perfect match for her name.

"Clarisse," I mumbled, frowning when she smiled wider.

"I know. Aslan sent you to do what you are best at. You are to be a guardian of Narnia. You are already following this journey, so this will be a great first task at guarding your land."

"Wait. Am I dead? Where's my body?" Lilliandil's smile vanished so fast, I couldn't tell you what she looked like smiling, though she was doing plenty of it moments before.

"Your body is sick. You didn't take care of it. All you did was sit there, day after day, month after month. You didn't feed it properly, and your health declined dramatically. Your physical body is dying. That's why you are becoming a star. To watch over Narnia forever, since you love this world so much." She finished her speech and I just gaped.

"Edmund?" I choked out, barely being able to whisper.

"You could have gone with your cousins to live with the Pevensies in their time, but you didn't. Imagine how betrayed he felt when Sandra and Darrell showed up, but not you? Ahh, well it's too late now to be human again. You are a star, and this will be your life."

And so began my job.

For the most part, it was simple.

I hovered over the ship, stirring up breezes and zooming around, always helping them make headway with my wind.

Then, it happened.

I felt a change in the wind current and turned my head toward the part of the sea it was coming from. I felt three presences enter Narnia, now under my protection. A young boy who couldn't swim very well, Lucy, and...

Edmund.

*****

It's just past 4 in the morning here so for now I'll sleep. These chapters will be shorter, but don't worry, there's still some action despite her not actually being on the ship.
