As more forges start up the smell of smoke infiltrates wes' home, eventually stirring him from his sleep. Groggily, Wes sits up in his bed rubbing his eyes, finnaly standing after a few moments of stretching he walks over to his window, and opens the blinds letting in rays of light and begins to get dressed, he puts on dark blue pants made specifically for the purpose of not catching on fire, a black shirt with various holes caused from stray sparks, an apron that used to be white but is now black from ash and fire, and a wooden pendant with his families insignia, that is a seemingly random assortment of lines intertwining with each other. And leaves his house to go to work.
As wes approaches the family forgery he hears a gruff voice call out to him. "Wes! You're late, how do you expect us to finish this order when you keep sleeping in?" Wes looks around to find where the voice came from and sees Harold standing on top of the forgery.
"You know fully well why I've been sleeping in!" He has to yell to make sure that his uncle can hear him, and before he can even breath in he hears his uncle call out again
"Why do you even want to go to that school, you already have a respectable job here! Besides, who's going to take over the Forge when I keel over?!"
Wes can't help laughing since harold always pulls that card, and starts running to the Forge so he doesn't have to yell anymore. "I wanna go because I want to see more than the area around Baleria, going to the school will prepare me to be a proper adventurer like my dad. I want to have stories to tell to him when we meet again, rather than just listening to him. And as for the Forge, you know Roland has had his eyes on it for awhile, just give it to him." Wes makes it to the Forge and opens the door, "besides, I haven't gotten a letter from the Academy yet. I may not make it in." Wes walks in to find that his uncle had gotten down from the roof and was waiting for him in the entrance.
"Roland? No offense, I love the guy like he was my brother, but he doesn't know how to tell steel from iron. and you said it yourself, you may not get in, so get to work." Harold tosses wes a rag and points him to a table with swords stacked neatly, "I need you to Polish these before the day ends." Wes walks over to the swords and looks them over.
"There's about sixty here, shouldn't take more than 3 hours. What do you need after this?" Wes starts polishing the swords and harold begins making more.
"If you can finish with those before I make the next batch I'll let you go home early" harold shoots a sly grin at wes and the two begin working hard.
