Still reeling from his landing, Wes uses his staff to get up off the ground and support himself while standing and walks over to the old man who speaks. "Welcome Wesley, to Nalraxian Academy."
Wes looks towards the Academy. It's castle-like in appearance with its stone structure, and large pillars. Wes and the old man are currently standing on a bridge that leads to two large doors, the bridge is built over what seems to be a pit of unending darkness, with no end in sight.
"I must warn you though that once you enter the school, the requirements to stay are rather extreme. Now that you're here you have 7 days to show us that you can cast some sort of spell, and based on what spell it is you may have to learn a new spell, Or refine your current one.
While magic is a big focus of the school we have to make sure that our students can take care of themselves in any situation. The amount of time that you stay at this school is entirely up to you, we've had people come to the school and leave within a week after learning a spell. And we've had people stay at the school from when they were you're age to when they were my age. There is a ranking system to show how skilled someone is compared to another student.
There are numerous ways to raise your ranking, you can challenge another student and beat them to take their spot. You could kill someone and raise up that way, though I wouldn't recommend it. Or you can participate in the tournament held every 3 years to change the rankings."
Wes stays quiet during all this to make sure he understands everything that was said, going over it all in his head he looks to the old man. "Ok, I think I got it, but who are you?"
"I am the director's right hand man, you can call me Marvin." And with that the the old man snaps his fingers and turns into a wisp, that then rockets into one of the taller buildings of the school.
Wes walks across the bridge and reaches the large doors. He looks at the doors, astounded at how big they are up close and knocks on the right door. Moments later a hatch opens in front of wes' face.
"Throw the entrance fee into the pit" a voice speaks with no noticeable point of origin, wes looks through the hatch and sees Noone. Unable to find the point of origin wes throws the coinpurse into the pit, and immediately afterwards the large doors begin to open, rumbling the floor causing wes to need to catch himself on a nearby pillar. Once the doors open fully a voice echoes out of the entrance.
"Welcome to Nalraxian Academy, your seven days begin now."
And with that wes walks through the doors.
