One-Sided Remembrance

One-Sided Remembrance

I saw an old friend of ours,

I asked how you were,

Apparently, nothing changed,

You are always just the same.

Why am I broken, while you're standing tall?

Why is your tremendous joy so bright,

While darkness is overcoming my light?

You changed me,

But I didn't change you.

I was just another pair of shoes, thrown away once finished.

You're moving on,

I'm holding back.

I have chances at a second love, but I say, "No!" simply because I met you.

My heart can't love another,

Yet yours never loved one.

While I cry out in pain, do me a little favour,

And remember me, the one who loved you enough to stay,

But you kicked away.
