The Struggle
The struggle to be what others expect.
Dancing along as a puppet, them pulling the strings.
Your flimsy body flails helplessly,
Slave to the ideas of others.
Be flawless
or be useless,
And tossed away like scum.
The struggle to fit in a box that doesn't fit is slowly killing me.
Why must acceptance require perfection?
The struggle to hide your scars,
The ones that will never fade.
Memories of the past follow you closer than your shadow,
Because no one cares enough to chase them away.
One little mistake, and the cover will be blown.
All effort will be pointless.
The struggle to keep up your life of lies,
While trying not to cry,
Won't be possible.
You will fall,
And others will watch.
