The New Me

You probably think I'm joyful, free as a bird,

Because you see me laughing, with the biggest smile.

You see the false sparkle in my eyes, and think I'm happy.

Just the other day, I was skipping with pseudo energy. I waved hi, and seemed to enjoy your company.

But what you didn't see were the waves of my depression.

In fact, the storm was so strong that I laid down and weeped,

While letting my tears mix in with the water.

I only let you see my shining teeth and my smiling eyes.

Because, in truth, I am nothing more than another empty shell.

With no joy, no content, and definitely no love.

Only love for you.

I am just here, you need not worry about me, because one day, I'll be gone.

Just another page in your book.
