Jin thought back and forth.
He needed someone right now, especially Namjoon. Nobody else cared, and Jin was sure Namjoon didn't either, but there was a chance.
He'd said to call him if he needed help with English. Maybe he only gave Jin his number for school purposes. Was it really okay to call him?
Jin thought through his options.
A) He could call Namjoon and either get hung up on or someone to talk to for once.
B) He could suffer by himself like he was oh so used to.
The brunette nervously picked up his brick phone and put in the number. He saved the contact and hesitantly pressed 'call.'
He waited. One ring. Two rings. A voice.
"Hello? Who is this?"
His voice.
Oh god his voice.
Jin could only sob quietly, what now? Did he really want to bother him with petty home problems?
"Hello, are you okay? Wait, Jin, is that you? Please answer me."
He sounded concerned. His voice was stern and unsure.
"I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have called, I'm sorry." Jin let his sobs continue, barely able to speak clearly.
"No, no no it's fine don't worry." Namjoon put his words out in a rush, as if he thought Jin might hang up. "Can you explain what's going on? I'm here, it's okay."
I'm here.
Jin nearly choked and felt a pain strike him. He found it bizarre how Namjoon had no clue how he made the older boy feel with just a few words. He couldn't reply, and hoped Namjoon would understand.
"It's okay."
Oh god how Jin needed to hear words of comfort for the longest time. He'd needed that voice saying those things. He was slowly calming down with every word that the younger spoke.
"Oh woah I'm so bad in these situations I hope you can understand." Namjoon awkwardly chuckled whilst thinking about what to say.
"So I don't know what's happening but how about we try talk about stuff so you don't think think about it? Um I can do all of the talking if you want." The voice continued, completely unaware of Jin's desperation.
Neither of them knew how long they spoke for, but for a while, Jin just sat on his floor with his phone in one hand, listening to Namjoon talk about everything from hair dye to different foods. Eventually, Jin stopped crying and just listened to every word. He held onto their conversation as if he didn't know whether they'd ever speak again or not.
"I really have to go now, I don't want to but my mum is going to get pissed off. Please smile, okay? I'll see you tomorrow and I hope you'll be okay until then. Oh and the others said that you should hang out with us again soon. I'm really sorry Jin."
"I-I understand, bye."
"Bye."
The phone line went dead and Jin didn't know how he felt at the current moment. He was sad because he was back to just himself, which wasn't the best, but at the same time he was happy because of the conversation. He'd never had anyone ask him to smile before, nobody cared enough.
Jin knew that Namjoon was only being polite, he couldn't exactly just hang up because they saw each other everyday in school. He knew all of this, but he chose to ignore it.
He heard shouting outside and immediately wished to skip the next few hours.
