Stella's POV
I stood there on my balcony, taking in the fresh air. I've always felt something different between the air in the morning and the air at night. Maybe it's just because it's colder and the stars are out.
'Why the hell am I even thinking about this...jeez. I probably didn't get enough sleep during classes.' I shook my head and closed my eyes for a few minutes.
Lifting my head up, I breathed in and out slowly, letting my body relax. My eyes flutter open to see the night sky shining brightly with millions of stars. I smiled at the sight as I propped my elbows onto the railing to rest my chin in my hands.
"Oh my, the demon is smiling. I have an awful feeling something bad is going to happen." An unenthusiastic voice said from behind me.
Rolling me eyes, I turned around to face my "angelic" sister.
"I thought we had a 'knock before you enter' rule, or are you planning to break that rule as well?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Stella, please. You're the last person to talk about entering without knocking. You literally barge into everyone's rooms unexpectedly!" Sophie walked over to me and flicked my forehead making me glare at her.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Really now?" she said in a matter of fact tone. "How about that time you barged into Asher's room when he and Evan were blowing-" I slapped my hand over her mouth before she could finish.
"Don't. EVER. Speak of that time. And that was like the only time I barged in on Asher and Evan...I think." I scratched the back of my head, trying to think.
My sister's eye twitched. She grabbed my arm and pulled it away from her face. "Only time? Really, Stella? And I don't even see what's wrong about speaking about that time. It's not like you're the only person in the world to have walked into it."
I place both my hands on her shoulders and shook her slightly. "Everything is wrong, that's what!"
"All you did was barge in on them blowing balloons for your supposed to be surprise party!" Sophie groaned and pulled away from me then laid her forehead against the railing.
"Gaaaaah!!! I told you not to finish it! It brings soo many disturbing memories. I didn't even get that surprise party!" I punched her arm, but not too rough that she would punch back.
She rolled her eyes and got up to leave. "Ugh, adolescents. Whatever, Stella. Just go get ready for bed or do whatever the heck you do at night."
"Whatever you say, Your Highness." I curtsied to her and stuck my tongue out as well as making a disgusting face.
Sophie shifted her face to match mine, causing both of us into a laughing fit. "G-goodnight, dork," she said between laughs.
I smiled at her and replied, "Night, geek."
I watched her leave my room before heading over to my laptop. An eyebrow raised as I was scrolling through some social medias. "Killer on the loose...again?"
I switched over to the local new's website, apparently it isn't the same killer as before. Instead of carving "smiles" into people's faces, they drew it on the wall with their victim's blood.
I shivered upon seeing the smiley face. I have no idea why it creeped me out so much, I mean, It's just a smiley face!
I scrolled a little more, stumbling upon a few pictures of the crime scenes. All of them showed that bloody smiley face that makes me shudder. I quickly exited out of the page and hugged myself, suddenly feeling very cold and vulnerable.
