Stella's POV

Asher and I sat next to our still gloomy Evan. My sister gave us the rest of the class period to "read" while she stepped out of the classroom. I rubbed my temples, trying to gather my thoughts.

"Ugh, why must today of all days be horrible." I groaned and laid my head on Evan's shoulder who didn't move a muscle.

Asher looked back and forth between and two of us before finally setting his eyes on me. "That's right, you have a game today." His eyes softened, giving me a sympathetic look. "At least it's not a district game."

I puffed my cheeks out, feeling really agitated. 'Even if it's not a district game, I absolutely HATE losing...and right not I can hardly focus on anything,' I thought to myself as I poked Evan, trying to get him to talk.

"Oh yeah," I started. "That new kid, Otis right? He gave you a look when he saw you, Asher. What was that about?" I felt Evan's body shift when I started talking about the new kid. I looked up at him and saw an unfamiliar look in his eyes.

It seemed that Asher noticed it as well and continued the conversation. "I may or may not have accidentally tripped him on the way to school. It was an accident though! I got so into the music and you know how I am...I spaced out and when I was back to reality, all I see is him on the ground."

I gave him a 'Wtf, again?' look. He held his hands up, trying to defend himself. Before he uttered a word. Evan stood up and walked out of the classroom. I sat there shock. I didn't think he would be this upset about the mark on the wall and the new student.

I got up, only to feel Asher pull me back down. "Just give him some time to himself, alright?" That didn't sound convincing, even he looked like he wanted to chase after him. I could only sigh and nod, sitting back down in the seat.

'Seriously Evan, what the hell is wrong with you? We're best friends, you can tell us anything.' I closed my eyes, leaning my back against the wall. 'I wish today was over with...'

Evan's POV

I made my way down to the school's courtyard to get some fresh air. I sat down near the fountain and closed my eyes, just listening to the sound of the water. 'Why am I so irritated?' I took a deep breath, opening my eyes to see the clear blue sky before breathing out. I watched the clouds pass by very slowly. Thankfully it's helping me calm down.

It felt like hours went by while I just sat there looking at the sky. "Evan?" A voice called. I turned around to see who it was. The male was walking up to me, his dirty blonde hair moved with the wind. He wore a denim jacket with a white shirt along with blue jeans. Honestly, I wanted to gag every time I laid eyes on him.

I got up quickly and started walking away. "Hold up, Evan!" He ran in front of me, making me stop in my track. "Why the rush, hmm? The boy raised an eyebrow and gave me a sly smile causing my eye to twitch.

"What the hell do you want, Chad?" I groaned, wishing I could go back in time to when everything was peaceful.

Chad shoved his hands in his pockets and just shrugged. "I saw you sitting there by yourself without your buddies and just thought something was up. Can't a guy be worried for one of his friends? He tilted his head, the same disgusting smile plastered on his face.
