THE PICTURE TO THE RIGHT (beautiful we know) IS NIKOLAI!!!!!

Eric

“Welcome to Camp Summer…” my dad says from his position at the front of the room.

After all the campers had settled their belongings we (councilors included) were all gathered for the Opening Ceremony. I notice that every camper is  here except for Nikolai, which is not a surprise, because he never comes to camp meetings. I watch my dad conclude his speech, he is officially in camp leader mode. When he is done those that are excited like me cheer and hoot while stomping our feet. But those like the new girl, not used to our ways just simply clap.

Now that the speech is over everyone is allowed to socialize, or unpack, until dinner. I see the new girl head back towards her cabin, and I notice how many of the guys watch her departure.

I decide to get to know some of the new comers.

“Hi I’m Eric.” I say to a petite girl sitting on a bench.

Behind her glasses I see her eyes bug out as she contemplates what to say to me.

“Um…Um hi, I’m Be-Bethany.” she stutters.

I tell her that I am a counselor and that if she ever has a question to come straight to me or any of the other counselors in the red shirts.

I then get up and leave her to her lonerness, heading out of the main building and back towards the mess-hall. I see Ryan, one of my co-counselors, kicking around a ball with some boys.

“Hey Seamis!” He calls to me.

When the boys see me most of them grin and wave. John, a kid who’s been coming here for years now, tells me to come join them. I bend down to check the laces of my converse before heading into the game.

Sweaty, famished, and an hour after the soccer game, I see Jaelyn exit her cabin. In place of her earlier outfit, she has on pink running shorts and a white tee. I realize that she’s about to go running, and I see it as my chance to bond with her some more. Standing up from a stretch as I get to her, her face looks guarded and unsure of me. I notice that even in baggy attire she still looks beautiful.

“There’s a running trail that’s about two miles, through the forest and around the other side that you might like.” I say.

“Yah I know. My bunk mate Isabell Richards told me, thanks anyways.” she says with a stiff smile.

“Well would you like some company?” I ask, making sure to give her one of my killer dimple smiles.

She looks at me like I’m joking, and when she realizes that I’m not she stops stretching, looks me in the eye and blinks.

“No thank you.” she says right before curtly turning her back on me and jogging down the path into the forest.

I guess she wants to play hard to get. I think. It doesn’t deter me though, it just makes me want her more.

“Rejected!” I hear Ryan say to me from behind, stopping the many thoughts that had started to fill my brain as I processed my…rejection.

I turn towards him with a thick grin and before he has time to run away I tackle him.
