"Is this real, Sherida? Please tell me this is real."

"Naw. Its fake." She rolled her eyes while swimming off to the others.

Mike smiled and laughed while holding my hands. I stared back at him, noticing a spark in his eyes.

"Yes this is real you fool!" He picked me up and hugged me tight. I was shocked he still could because I gained a little weight and what not.

"What are you doing here?" I tried not to smile so hard.

"I live down the street." He put me back down in the pool. "When I was walking to the store, someone told me there was a house party and they invited me to come."

"Okay. Anyways, I missed you!! Why haven't you been contacting me?"

"My phone stopped working. I dont remember your number by heart, you know."

This boy is so full of shit.

"But I remember yours and Elijah's "

I pulled out my phone and showed him.

"See? And I've had this since you moved without a problem. You could've wrote our numbers down on paper or something. You really should try keeping up with your shit instead of making excuses."

"And thats what I did. Please don't think I've been ignoring you. Okay? I haven't and I know you're aware of it."

"How could I be sure of that?" I crossed my arms and leaned my back on the stairs to the poolground.

"Like you, I'm still wearing this."

He pointed out his promise ring. Lucky him, he did have a point. I didn't think he was gonna keep up with it for so long. That means alot to me.

"Oh, right. Okay im sorry I yelled at you."

He shrugged and kissed my hand.

"It's fine. You're just glad im here. That's all."

"You damn skippy!" We got out the pool and sat on the edge, so only our feet was in the water.

"Soooo...When did you get here?"

"I moved back in town just a while before school started. I'm in 9th grade and I go to Jamestown."

"High school?" I lifted my eyebrow.

"Thats the only Jamestown there is here, right?"

I squealed and jumped on him, kissing his face.

"Why you so happy?" He laughed.

"We go to the same school, DUH!!"

"For real?" His eyes got wide like saucers.

"No shit, sherlock!" I punched his shoulder. He didn't flinch like he used to. He just laughed and embraced me in his arms.

"You've gotten taller, Mikey. And you got some muscle now. And your voice got deep too."

"Yeah, I know. I hit puberty a while back. I see you did too, but nothing changed. Just your voice."

"I know."

Mike pulled me back in the pool with him and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"You want a piggy back ride?"

"Boy, I dont think you can keep me up for that long. I've gained weight."

"Okay, and? I still want to give you one. Or..."

He grabbed my tub floatee and a noodle.

"You can get on your floatee and I can pull you around with the noodle while u hold on to it."

I thought of my options, then shook my head.

"Im better off just here talking to you. I miss you and I want to spend as much time with you before I have to sneak back in the house for school."

"Okay. Well, I have a question for you. "

"What is it?"

He leaned in the corner and pulled me closer to him so only I could hear what he's saying.

"How do you feel about me?"

I blushed and held his hands.

"The same way I did before you left. I always knew you would come back to me. You promised and I knew you wouldn't break it."

"So you still love me?" He pinched my cheeks.

"Yes."

"I feel the same way about you."

A huge grin formed on his face.

He dipped under water and picked me up. I felt my cheeks get hot instantly.

"Are you nervous?"

"No." I lied.

I was high and I had a strong urge to kiss him, but yet I never told anyone except Sherida that im in love with him. I didn't want to let him down, but I didn't want to get made fun of at school either.

"Fuck what other people think!" Mike snapped me from my thoughts.

"Damn, stay out my head." I laughed.

Mike pulled me down a little so we were facing eachother.

"I want to kiss you. And if you dont let me, i'll be damned."

"You're such a goofball." I giggled.

"But i'm your goofball."

I pulled him in and kissed his lips. They were so soft and I missed them so much.

"Now that im here and I get to see you again, im never leaving you. I promise."

"Okay."

He kissed me again and I could feel the reflection of our rings shining in our faces.
