'Every one ready?'. Mum asked as she peeked out of the window.
'You know all this might not be necessary Barb. I mean, it could be a misunderstanding. '
'With all due respect Mrs Kelly, no one says they'd find you and its all a misunderstanding. I mean these guys were trained. If only you'd seen them in action', I said.
'They were armed?'
'Yes, clad in black head to toe and I think they know about all this stuff. Dream walkers and all. I bet it was the master who sent them. '
'Now let's not jump to conclusions', mum said.
Almost immediately, our front door burst open. In ran Isabel and her nameless mentor. As quickly as the door was opened it was shut. Phil flew behind the couch as mum and aunt Kelly braced themselves for battle. In a matter of seconds there was war just inside our living room. Chairs flying, knives slicing the air and the panic behind the couch made it all look like a horror movie where the good guy was losing. I stood watching the destruction wrought on our living room in less than a minute.'Will everybody chill!?!?!?!?' I screamed as loud as I could. Everyone seemed to have frozen. It felt like I'd just stopped time. Mum was about pounding the mentor on the table while Isabel and Mrs Kelly struggled on the floor.
'Don't look at me! They started it.' Isabel finally said as she pulled herself off the ground.
'We started it? You just run into our home and expect us to welcome you with smiles', Phil piped up, still behind the couch.
Scoff.' Coward ', Isabel spat.
'Alright enough. We apologise for running in like that. We were being followed. It was either rush in or endanger us all. And when you attacked, survival instinct kicked in. Hi. I'm Megara. Meg for short. And this is ...'
'Isabel. Yes we know.' Mrs Kelly said. Still rustled from the little war.
'I see were well acquainted then. The heavy accent dropped the words one after the other.'They have her. We must act quickly.' Isabel said in the calmest id ever heard her.
'Have who?' Thoughts rolling through my mind about what the heck they were talking about. 'Average height, fair complexion, real pretty friend of yours. '
'No it can't be'. I said, my hand running through my hair.
'Its Essy.' Phil said as he stood up from behind the couch.
'My three days are up. That's the 'or else'. No. It can't be. They'll hurt her. '
'Where are they? ' Mum asked Meg.
The look she responded with meant trouble. They excused themselves from the living room into the kitchen.'They have her in stasis.' Isabel said.
What's that? Are they hurting her?' I looked around as I tried to catch my breath. Phil stood calmly at the window looking at the stars. I looked back at Isabel questioningly.
'Not necessarily. 'She said. 'She is suspended in a dream state. '
Something about Isabel made me gawk. I couldn't place it, but when our eyes met, we were kinda suspended too. That is seeing past her trying to kill me twice.
'Do you guys see that? 'Phil said, breaking us out of our little world as he continued staring out the window.
'See what?' I rushed towards him like nothing had happened.
'Look up.' He instructed. 'Do you see a pattern? '
We stared at the blank sky searching for a pattern.
