Dream Walkers

Ajax's POV

Somewhere deep in the dream verse. I sat in the comfort of the brewing chaos. Out of the mist appeared a face, one that I recognised all too well.

'You failed!. '

'Well good morning to you too. Guess word gets out really fast.'

'You came back empty handed. What do you expect?.'

'It is just a minor setback. We will get the boy. Soon. '

'That is exactly what you said the last time. '

'Well, time is but an illusion. Soon can be defined in various ways.'

'This is no joke. '

'I don't see me smiling. '

'In such a small world, you can't find three children ? Tell me Ajax, what use are you in our conquest then?'

'Far more valuable that you are, given your current condition. '

'How dare you speak of my condition? Remember how I got in it in the first place? Oh wait, why not? You put me here.'

'Yes yes, how could I forget? You remind be every time we talk. '

'One day I'd smack that smug expression off of your face. '

I smirked.

'You're unbelievable.' He said just before the mist disappeared.

I took a deep long breath, inhaling the summer morning. I could smell the sea from my window. The warm sun heating my outstretched arms. All the peace that reigned. So repulsive.
Soon. I said to myself, just before my door burst open. In came Megara and Olaf pursued.

'I warned you about his power.' Megara said to me.

'We will get them back. Its only a matter of time. '

'They have the scroll' , she reminded me.

'Of that I am well aware, so if you're done pointing out the obvious, how about something more concrete?' I was really getting irritated now.

Scoff. 'You men. You always believe you are so wise. I warned you, but you had to do things your own way. You just had to be so stubborn. '

'Watch it Megara,...' Olaf warned.

'No. I've had it. For so long, I speak, and he doesn't listen. If its always your way, what am I here for? That kids not one to trifle with. I told you we should have killed him. If only you'd listen to me for once.... '

'I raised my arm in a gesture towards her throat and began to choke her.'

'You will remember who I am. YOU WILL NOT SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY!!!!.... You. Nothing but a messenger dares to address the me with such insolence. You are nothing. You were nothing before me, you will be nothing after me!!!'

'Alright boss, just let her go', Olaf said in a heavy Australian accent.
I released her breath. An act of mercy... Not something I'm used to.

'You both exist to make this work. You will not question my methods, you will not question my strategy, you will not question my speed, you will definitely not question my results. You will follow my instructions with perfect accuracy. Am I understood? '

The room fell silent.

Silent... Till Olaf spoke.

'The facts already established are... The children are in hiding. They have a little experience escaping us. They have a trained weapon. They may very well have their parents. They have the scroll. They have a history of powerful dreamers. The only thing we have established is that they're either here or on the real earth. What's the plan boss? '

'If I've learned anything in all my years of service... Heck its not patience. But I know one thing. I always get what I want.' I felt really pleased with myself.

'Well its definite they won't be coming in easily boss. '

'Easy Olaf. A step at a time will do. '

'I have to give them some sort of update. What do I tell them?' Megara asked, in slight quivers.

'In my most humble opinion, nothing you'd say could possibly appease them, but if they have a problem with that, let them come to me. '

'Whatever you say', Megara said with what seemed to be a snarl trailing every word as she left the room.

'We can't possibly search both worlds at once', Olaf pointed put correctly.' What do you have in mind?'

'Do not fret Olaf, we ha e nothing to worry about. They're children.'

'What's them being children have to do with this? '

'I don't plan aimlessly. I have a contingency. They'll come to us. If not, ... Why else is Isabel with them? '

Who else is feeling the rush?
