So, since I didn't die from my mother finding about everything she had missed, and with the excitement I had had today in school, the one thing I wanted was to lay in bed and relax. Just let the stress and anxiety and aggravation melt away. Maybe close my eyes and drift off a little. I deserved it! I put up with a lot of shit recently and the least I could ask for was to get some much deserved time to myself.
So when I heard the tapping on my window not three seconds after getting comfortable on my bed, the curse word I so love to say that starts with 'F' came flying out of my mouth at a distinctly loud volume. I rolled myself over and fell onto the floor, brought myself to my feet and shuffled over to the window. Shane was sitting there, waving to me to let him in. I sighed, ran my fingers through my hair, and unlocked the window for him to crawl through.
"Hello my lovely girlfriend," he said, climbing in and wrapping his arms around me almost instantly. I hugged back, though I was slightly resentful that I was probably not going to be able to sleep now that he was there.
"Hello, handsome," I said into his chest. He had definitely changed since I last saw him, since his shirt didn't smell like grease or the stale stench of corn.
He let me go, but held my hand while we walked and sat on the end of my bed.
"Are you feeling alright?" He asked, running his fingertips gently over the scratch marks that were visible on my neck.
I winced a little, but nodded slightly. "Yeah, that bitch is not as tough as she tries to come off," I answered weakly, trying to make it a little more obvious that I was tired. He wasn't picking up on the hints. Men.
"Sara told me that she didn't have a choice but to call your mom and explain the situation to her," he said, pulling my head down so that I could rest it on his knee and he could stroke my hair. This was comfortable. Maybe he was getting the hint. 'Atta boy, Shane.
"She told me to make sure you weren't mad at her for spilling the beans," he laughed.
I laughed too. Why would I be mad? If it wasn't for that phone call and my mother bursting in like fucking Superman, I wouldn't have made it out of there without at least a mark on my permanent record. No, Mama came in clutch and that was partially in thanks to Sara.
"How could I be mad at her?" I asked with a small laugh. "She really came through today and I appreciate that she saved my ass before White fried it."
"What happened in there?" he asked, with a laugh.
I rolled my eyes. "He was just flexing his lack of muscles. He tried to act like he had this immense power over me and he was doing me such a favor by not expelling me on the spot. Then, my mom swept in and basically pointed out the fact that since I was doing nothing but defending myself, I shouldn't be held accountable for the incident."
Shane gave a small round of applause. "Well, way to go Mama Jackson," he said. It was then that I realized he still hadn't met my mother. I put that on my mental To Do list. I mean, she knows we're dating, she NOW knows that Annie is being a bitch to me and it's partially because I'm dating Shane, and she still hasn't seen him in years.
Shane's strokes of my hair were nice and gentle that I started to close my eyes and drift off. Shane looked over and noticed my eyes starting to close.
"Am I making you sleepy?" he laughed in a whisper.
I nodded slightly, but smiled. "You could always take another nap with me if you'd like," I said, nuzzling my head a little to get comfortable on his knee.
"Is your mom going to be okay if she comes up and finds us here asleep having not seen me come in the front door?" he asked. "Is she going to Harry Potter you and bar your windows?"
