Chapter 18

Doing the finishing touches of my makeup I heard rapid footsteps on the stairs. I looked at the clock and noticed it was 7:50pm. A few moments later Anna burst into my room like a tornado with Travis hot on her heels.

Anna was dressed in a dark blue halter dress that ended above her knees and silver heels to match. Her hair was down curling around her face. Travis was dressed in black dress pants and a matching black dress shirt with silver buttons with tiny cross designs on each button. Anna and I have known Travis since High School. He was the nerdy best friend back then, he matured the year after we graduated. He's about 5'9 with curly-ish light brown hair. Dark Brown eyes that stand out mostly due to his gorgeous eye lashes. We often pick on him about that.

Travis was very shy in High School but once he filled out that changed. Now he is a notorious lady's man and has no shame about telling anyone. The only exceptions to his charm is myself and Anna of course mostly due to the fact that Travis was our friend before he came into his charming ways and none of us wants to sever our friendship for anything else.

Anna pauses to look over my outfit and after a moment seems to be satisfied. My hair was in a high pony tail. I had decided on a light gray sleeveless v-neck shirt pairing it with a pair of black figure-hugging shorts coupled with my black and silver gladiator sandals.

Travis pushed Anna to the side scooping me up in a bear hug. I couldn't hold in my laughter. Giggling as i was swung around. Travis set me down ,smiled and said "It's good to see you Lexa". Matching his smile i replied "It's good to see you too Travis." We were broke out of our reverie by Anna's voice "Alright you two break it up we've got partying to do!"

We both rolled our eyes at Anna's theatrics. I grabbed my purse and we headed down the stairs. Mom and Dad were on their way out as well when we reached the bottom of the stairs. I gave them both a kiss on the cheek as well did Travis and Anna. Except Travis shook Dad's hand instead of the kiss! Which Dad looked extremely relieved. I had a hard time covering up my giggles after seeing Dad's face when Travis walked towards him.

We hopped in Travis's Chevy Silverado and made our towards Night Walkers. Anna was in the front with Travis and when she explained that there would be no picking up guys or girls tonight and it would just be us. Travis groaned but didn't make too much of a fuss. Anna elaborated to Travis about the attack in the woods not to far from us.

"I did hear about that from a few friends. The guy was apparently homeless but that doesn't mean it was any less terrible..... I understand though.....Don't worry ladies I'll protect you."

That last statement was made with Travis bowing out his chest in a manly way. We all laughed it off but there was an underlying feeling of fear.

We made it to Night Walkers quickly. We pulled to the front and a valet came and took the truck for us. By the expression on Travis's face I could tell he was impressed. I couldn't hide my smirk.

Just as the last time we were here Anna walked up to the scary bouncer and he allowed us entry. Casting Travis a curious look. Not that Travis noticed. Entering the club, the first thing I noticed was it was a busier than the last time. They were people everywhere. Anna sent Travis to get us drinks while we tried to find a vacant table. We managed to find one in the very back of the club.

I sat down wearily trying my best to relax and enjoy myself but Aiden's warnings kept repeating in my head. I looked over at Anna and noticed she was texting someone, which gave me the perfect opportunity to scan the faces around me. I looked around slowly trying not to attract any attention to myself.

The more I looked around the more I noticed things that didn't feel right. They were a bunch of young, really pretty girls gathered around a guy about 3 booths down. The guy was incredibly attractive. He had Dark Black Hair and beautiful light blue eyes. I would say he had an Italian quality to him. His outfit screamed wealth, with beautiful jewelry to match.

That wasn't really out of the ordinary but when I looked back over at them, for a split second the gorgeous guy was old and disfigured with ratty clothes and solid white sunken eyes and shock white frizzy hair. I gasped and blinked and when I looked again the guy was the same gorgeous guy I first saw. I stared for a few more seconds and then shook my head to try to clear it up.

My mind had to be playing tricks on me. Damn Aiden! His ominous words replaying in my head must be making me trip out. After convincing myself that it was all in my head I did manage to relax and look around some more.

Travis made it to our booth and handed us our drinks while he himself settled for Pepsi. Travis was our DD for tonight.

"You wanna dance?" Travis asked..... I looked over at the grinding bodies of the people on the dance floor. I shook my head in the negative. "Ask Anna, I think I'm gonna sit back for a while and enjoy my drink." Travis rolled his eyes at me and a moment later Anna and Travis went towards the glass dance floor.

I sat back in the booth and continued to look and observe the people around me. I noticed a really beautiful woman a few feet from away eyeing me with what looked like .......Desire? No...Her expression looked like hunger...with a mix of ....desperation maybe?

I eyed her for a few more seconds and turned away trying not to give her any encouragement. I definitely didn't feel like being hit on tonight especially by a woman. I took a sip from my drink and studied her through my downcast eyelashes.

She was gorgeous. Long black straight hair, black eyes, tan skin, tall and lithe wearing a long black gown that looked sort of gothic chic. She looked to be in her late 30's maybe early 40's at most and she was still staring at me with that ravenous look. A moment later I noticed the attractive guy from earlier walk up to her. When she turned her gaze from me to him I took the opportunity to lift my head and get a better look.

He did kind of a half bow and she extended her hand to him. Which he excepted and kissed a huge blood red ruby ring she was wearing. He lifted himself back to his height and began speaking with her. It was a very odd and fascinating encounter to see. His facial expression was happy and pleased and hers was blank with a small hint of contempt. She looked at him as if he was beneath her. I shivered and rolled my eyes. I guess there are snobs everywhere.

I looked back towards the dance floor and smiled. Anna and Travis were dancing like lunatics making complete idiots of themselves. They usually do that when they aren't looking to hook up or impress someone. When I switched my gaze back to where the man and woman where they were gone.

Before I could look around to spot them a cold chill ran down my back and a soft voice beside my ear said "Well, Well, Well, What do we have here?"
