Unexpected

Once I got back on to the main street of town I realized that I had completely missed the meeting. How could I have been so stupid and so distracted? My father is going to kill me. I thought to myself as I drove slowly back home. How was I going to explain to him why I had missed the meeting? I can't just go up to him and say "Hey dad I chased after a boy I didn't even know for some odd reason and I missed the college meeting. Oh well there is always next year right?"

I shook the bothersome thoughts out of my head as I headed towards my friend Violet's house. I wasn't sure what I was going to say to my father yet so I might as well avoid him and hang out with Violet. Truth be told I needed to tell someone about the strange guy and Violet is my best friend so I might as well kill two birds with one stone.

As I pulled up to Violet's house I replayed the events of what happened this morning over and over again in my head. I couldn't help but think about how much risks I was taking. Believe me when I say i'm not the kind of girl to take risks. Ever since I was young I have been the good girl do no wrong type of kid and that followed me all the way up until adult hood so I really wasn't sure why this was happening to me now.

I walked around Violet's house carefully stepping over the fence before climbing up the tree and knocking on the window. Violet turned around quickly startled at first before walking over to the window and pulling it up. I climbed in the window and took a seat on her bed fiddling with my hands while trying to figure out what I should say to her I know I can tell her anything but i'm not really sure how to tell her this crazy thing.

Violet and I go way back. When I say way back I mean all the way back to when we were still in diapers. Growing up with a father who is a lawyer isn't easy. My dad always had to work which meant dropping me off at the Bakers house almost everyday. At first I was mad like any child would be but then I met Violet. Violet was always the troublesome one out of the two of us. She would come up with crazy plans and blame me for it when we got caught. Regardless Violet has always had my back which is why we are still friends to this day.

"So what's up? I thought you had that meeting thing?" Violet said as she walked over to her closet.

"I did. But I kind of missed it." I said simply while play with my heart shaped necklace.

Violet looked back at me stunned. "What do you mean you missed it?" She practically yelled at me while taking off her pajamas and disappearing into the closet.

"Well it's kind of a long story." I paused while waiting for her to reemerge from the closet.

"Spill." She said simply while plopping down on the bed next to me.

"Well I was heading to the meeting this morning when I saw this weird shadow running down the street. No one is usually out that early in town so I got curious and decided to follow it." I paused to see her reaction.

"You mean you actually took a risk?" She said surprised.

I nodded before continuing "I know shocker right? Anyway I turned right and followed the shadow down the street into a different part of town that i've never been to. It was beautiful the street was covered in flowers and there was art around every corner. So I decided to check out some of the shops and that's when I bumped into this weird guy."

"Wait a guy? Like a real live breathing male?" She said with her eyes wide open.

"Yes V, a real live guy." I said while rolling my eyes before continuing. "Anyway he apologized for bumping into me and then he tried to rush off. I thought that was weird so I stopped him and asked him why he lured me there. He told me he couldn't tell me but if I met him there tomorrow he would explain. But that's not even the weirdest part. V, he knew my name." I quietly whispered the last part afraid that if I said all of this out loud I would sound crazy.

"Wow so you're like Alice! She totally followed the white rabbit and fell into wonderland! That's super cool Allie! Wait wait was he good looking?" Violet said barely containing her excitement.

I rolled my eyes before responding "His icy blue eyes seemed to stare right into my soul and his husky voice made me feel like I was floating on air to be honest he was super hot." I said quickly while blushing.

"Oh my god! You like him! Are you going to go see him tonight?" She asked while fixing her hair and applying some makeup.

"I don't know to be honest. I mean don't you think it's a little weird that he knew my name?"

"Allie you work in a coffee shop and it's a small town i'm sure everyone knows your name besides you've been so daring why stop now?" She said while popping her lips.

She had a point I had been super risky up until this point. Besides I should probably figure out why he lured me to that part of town and how he knew my name. I sighed while standing up and walking over to Violet's closet. I played with the clothes in the closet while studying Violet's features. Violet was lucky she had beautiful blue eyes and curly blonde hair that fell past her shoulders in a nearly perfect way.

It wasn't her beauty that made her lucky. It was the way she lived life without a care in the world. She was so bubbly and free which made her even more attractive. I've always envied her free spirit she's always been able to talk to guys and go out on dates. I'm barely even able to say more than just a casual "hi" let alone ask them out which is why going to find out who this boy is is the right thing to do.

I hung out at Violet's for another hour or so before deciding that it would be best to go home and explain to my dad what happened this morning. I hugged Violet tight before climbing back down the window and walking over to my car. Mrs.Baker waved hi to me as I climbed into my car and headed home.

I wasn't sure what I was going to say to my dad yet but I knew I had to come up with something and fast.
