“One week!”

That was not enough time to prep herself for the talk with her mum. One week was too short. It would be gone in the blink of an eye. Melodine needed to plan what she was going to say. Maybe…she should write a speech. No, that wouldn’t work. It would be two fixed; her mum might think she was playing a prank on her. Well, there was the option of going up to her mum and straight out telling her about it. She could survive a mental hospital if her mum thought she might be crazy. The doctors could just diagnose her normal and then she will be out of there before her mum says ‘crazy’.  These were the options: option one, tell her mum and let her think whatever she wants to; second option is to ignore the blue-haired guy who seems crazier than her; lastly was option three which was to not speak to her mother about the matter and leave a note that she was going away.

So maybe those weren’t the best options in the world but that was all she could think about. Well…scratch option three. Melodine might not be the friendliest person or have the greatest relationship with her mother she wouldn’t run away like that and make her mother worry. If she chooses option two then she would never know the truth and would forever be thinking about the stranger. They do say ignorance is bliss but with the stranger in her mind it wouldn’t be bliss. Option one it is.

With a sigh, she got up from the bed and opened her bedroom door to enter hell.  She stopped at the top of the stairs, listened carefully and heard the sound of the TV. Melodine walked downstairs following the sound of the TV. She took a deep breath before opening the door to the living room. Never has she been this nervous. Even during exam time she managed to get through it all without a nervous breakdown. Unfortunately, the same could not be said about Lena.

Lindsey looked up upon the entry of her youngest daughter and told her to sit down. Melodine still stood there staring at her mum. No matter how much she tried she couldn’t form any words.  Lindsey noticed the lack of movement from Melodine and asked her, “What’s wrong?”

“Mum…I err need to err talk to you,” so much for smoothly talking to her mother about the situation. Hesitation wasn’t Melodine’s style. She was the straight-forward type of person who wouldn’t be afraid to tell it like it is. But, this was different even for her.

“Sit down and talk then.” Lindsey gazed towards the TV ignoring her. Melodine sat on the other side of the couch leaving as much space between them as possible. She looked around the room forgetting about the talk she was supposed to have with her mother.  The room itself was big but Melodine felt like the walls were caging her in. On the contrary, the room had a calming effect. The walls were painted a neutral colour and the furniture matched. Facing Melodine was a 42 inch TV which was on a cooking show at that moment.
