Chapter Twelve

Kenneth's POV

"What is the progress with your mate?" I ask Ron when he comes in my office.

It's been a week and some days since we came back from Justice pack. When we arrived here, he told me to give him a week so that his mate can warm up to him. The reason to that request was to avoid the torture that his mate is likely to go through, if he won't talk freely. We need information and we will do everything we can to get it out of him. So I gave them a chance to warm up to each other. A week was enough since I don't have so much time to give them. We need yo know our enemy in any way.

"He still does not talk to me that much. He just nods or shake his head. Mostly he uses one words response like 'no' or 'yes'. I'm trying my best Alpha, he will come around." He explains and I shook my head.

"We don't have time Ron. We can't just keep on waiting forever. What if it takes him years to warm up to you and talk? I can't risk it." I tell him.

"Alpha, your mate is on his way there."

"Okay."

Due to my mother's actions, I placed my own guards on the pack house. I made sure anyone who had a connection to my mother was removed and placed by people I could trust. I told them to link me every time they sent my mate to my office.

"I know you are my alpha, but I'm also your friend. Hell! We are practically brothers. Don't tell me you that you will torture my mate for answers!" He shouts and I don't scold him for shouting at me. I know he must be feeling bad at the thought of his mate being  tortured.

In the midst of his shouting, Roman entered the office and he is standing by the door, watching us.

"I know we are friends and I admit that we are also brothers at that, but I don't have a choice here. As a king, I have to do what is necessary. People in my kingdom are dying Ron. You of all people should know how important it is to nail those kidnappers down and get rid of them. Your mate is the source of information at the moment and we can't pass it up just because he's your mate."

"I told you we shouldn't have killed those fuckers at the train station and took them for questioning but you went on a rage and killed them all!"

"That's because your mate and his 'friends' were about to harm my mate. If I was late and at the station, he could have been hurt or even killed!"

"So you have the right to protect your mate and I don't? You fucking expect me to see my mate get tortured?" Ron growls and I growl back at him.

"SHUT UP!"

The growls die down and we look at my fuming mate by the door. I was lost in the yelling and shouting that I forgot he was here.

"Ron, down." He orders and my best friend silently sits down on the chair that was harshly thrown back when he stood up to growl at me earlier.

"Hi Only." I greet my mate with a smile on my face.

We solved our problems and we are working things out little by little. It is not much of a progress since it has only been two days since our makeup but I can say the process is going well. I started by getting him a nickname. He likes it when I call him my one and only and I cut it to just 'my only' for my perfect mate.

"No now Ken." He shakes his head at me, coming to stand by the desk and then turn to my friend.

"I know not you have mate Ron."

"I found him a week ago Alpha." He mumbles, addressing my mate as alpha.

I told the guards and maids at the pack house, to address him as alpha. Yes he's my mate but I think Luna doesn't suit him that much and I like it like that.
