I had been running from Ivy one school day. She was furious with me because I always hung around Garroth. Today she beat me until I said I wouldn't go near Garroth ever again. But I refused to say so and I ran away from her with cuts and bruises all over my body. I ran for my life. I was sure if I stopped, she would catch me and beat me again. Luckily I was a fast runner.
Because the dismissal bell had wrung a while ago, I tried to run home. I turned the corner that led to the sidewalk home but I ended up smacking into someone. Great. Just great. Now Ivy would catch me for sure.
I opened my eyes to see who I had run into. It was Laurance. I suddenly felt my face getting warmer.
"A-Aphmau? Are you okay? Where you running from someone? And...are you hurt?"
"L-Laurance! U-Um...I-I cant talk right now! I-I'm in a rush." But then I realized, I didn't hear running footsteps from behind us. Was Ivy not casing me? Oh thank Irene. She must have given up.
"What? Are you okay? You look hurt. Not to mansion the tears in your eyes." he asked.
"U-Um..." I sighed. "I-It was...Ivy. She...she keeps hurting and threatening me to stay away from Garroth. I-I was running from her but turns out she's gone."
"W-What? I didn't know you were being bullied! Did you tell a counselor about this?"
"N-No, y-you're the first person I've told."
"I-I see. Well we should tell someone about this. I don't want you being bullied."
"I-It's fine, Laurance. D-Don't worry about me. I'm fine. N-Now, I should get home." Suddenly I felt raindrops falling down from the sky, stinging my wounds. I yelped in pain.
"H-Here." Laurance pulled out an umbrella. I got up off of him and stood up. He stood up and opened the umbrella. The raindrops no longer hit me. I felt extremely flattered.
"Wanna walk home with me?" He asked.
"Y-Yes, please." I said. He smiled.
We began to walk home but a few raindrops hit my arm. I clutched onto it in pain.
"Get closer." He said. I blushed and stood closer. There was a small silence but then he used his free hand to grab mine. I blushed even harder and grabbed it back. I looked behind us to see is other students saw us holding hands. They didn't seem to notice but they must find out sooner or later.
"L-L-Laurance, th-those other students m-might see us h-holding hands." He looked back at the other students also walking home.
"Hm you're right. But they won't know it's us, right?"
"Well I guess you're right." There was a silence then Laurance said.
"I wanted to let you know that...I love you, Aph. With all my heart. I refuse to love anyone else beside you. Well, aside my family heh." I blushed.
"Heheh, th-that's sweet. Th-Thank you."
"Hey...Aph?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you...also have feelings for me?"
"I-I...W-Well uh..." I blushed and looked away. "M-M-Maybe..." I smiled innocently.
"R-Really? Th-That's cute. Heh. Uh..." He thought for a bit then said. "W-Well...If that's the case, do you mind if I do this?"
"Huh? Do wha-" He lowered the umbrella so it covered our faces and leaned in to kiss me. My face was red. I didn't know what to do. But soon I calmed down and played along. I put my arms around his neck, pulling him closer. He put his arms around me. Big mistake. The umbrella fell to the floor. We quickly pulled away.
"Gah!" He picked it up and held it over us again. I looked back at the other students. I couldn't tell if they saw or not. "L-Laurance, I think they just saw us k-kissing."
"Hm maybe. But they wont see us this time."
"Wha-" Once again, he lowered the umbrella and kissed me softly. I sighed and rolled my eyes but kissed back. Again, my face was red. Very red. We pulled away blushing. We laughed.
When we got to our neighborhood, Laurance asked a question that was sure to change my life forever.
"Hey um...Aph? Can I ask you something?"
"Hm? Yeah of course."
"Well I was wondering if...y-you'd consider being my girlfriend?" My jaw dropped a little and I tried not to faint. But I did fall backwards. Laurance caught me.
"Th-That sh-shouldn't even be a question! I-I'd love to be y-your g-girlfriend!" He smiled.
"Heh great! I'm glad you said yes. I don't know what I would have done if you said no. Hey, why don't we be in a secret relationship? Like a relationship that no one knows about but us."
"I-I'd like that." I smiled but realized I was home. "O-Oh, looks like I'm home." I tried to step out into the rain but it stang my wounds again. I yelped. But he handed the umbrella to me.
"A-Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yeah! You need it more than I do. Don't worry about me. My house isn't far from here."
"O-Okay then. Um bye, Laurance! I'll text you over the weekend!"
"Sounds great!"
"Bye!" I turned to leave but he stopped me.
"Wait!" I turned around and he kissed me passionately. I closed my eyes kissing back. The kiss lasted about three seconds. He ran backwards back to the sidewalk.
"Bye, Aph!" Then he ran down the street.
I blushed pretty bad. I looked down at my lips and touched them. Then I did something crazy- I licked them. They tasted...good?
I walked into the house being greeted by my mom.
"Were you kissing a boy under that umbrella just now!?" She asked.
"Gah! N-No! He was just...whispering something to me!"
"Like what?"
"Um a secret!"
"Aphmau, you two were kissing, weren't you?"
"N-No!" I lied.
"Aphmau I m know so. One, you're blushing, and two, you're licking your lips like a maniac."
"WAT!?" I questioned.
"Aphmau, tell me, was that your first kiss?"
I sighed, "N-No..."
"Hmm...was he your first kiss though?" I shook my head. "How kisses have you had?" I sighed again.
"U-Um...five?"
"WHAT!?" she screamed. "WITH WHO!?"
"N-None of your business, mom! Leave me alone!" I ran up the stares and ran into my room locking the door behind me. I swear, I hate my mom sometimes."
