*This chapter is a bit short too, but I just didn't have much to write in Ashton's point of view.*
Ashton POV
I was hunting in the forest with my pack. Everyone else was in their wolf form, but I was still human. Even though being human was found weaker compared to being in your wolf form, I had a reason. I recognize this forest from more than 14 years ago, and wanted to see if I could find her again. If I remembered correctly, her name was Kora. She was only just a toddler when I met her. Only able to say small words. I was hunting in this forest in my wolf form. Even though we lived all the way in Nebraska, we liked to hunt in different states in the United States. As I was hunting in my wolf form, I came along a log cabin in the middle of the forest. But what really got my attention was the smell.
The beautiful scent that seemed to be coming from the toddler playing in the grass. At that moment, I felt a pull coming from her, and my wolf had this sudden erg to protect her, and that she was ours, and ours only to protect. As I got closer to her, she saw me and started to waddle towards me.
When she got close enough, I had pulled my head down and felt her soft hand touch my muzzle and said, "Dowgy!" She started rubbing on my back and I started panting. Her touch had felt like the rush of water being poured in my mouth after years and years of being in the blazing hot desert and the feel of my lung and throat on fire begging for the tiniest amount of water.
Suddenly, I heard the sound of a males' voice. "Kora!" He shouted.
"Daddy!" Kora said as she turned her head towards the house. "Wook, I see a dowgy!" Through the distraction of her father, I retreated back into the woods, using the trees to shield me from view. As her father came, he took her in his arms. "You shouldn't be running off into the forest alone. Something could have gone wrong; you could have gotten hurt." The thought of her getting hurt made my wolf give a low growl. The father instantly looked up at my direction, and quickly took her away towards the house.
Now, finally getting to see her again more than 14 years later, she was beautiful. The way she would dance so carelessly, like all the trouble that was there instantly left and she was free. The sound of her voice was amazing. All I could do was stare. Suddenly, without warning, she snapped her head up my direction, and looked around as if she felt my stare.
A few seconds later, she walked to the car and continued washing as she hummed to the music blasting from the car. I felt myself begin to stare at her again, but then the music stopped and turned into the chime of a cell phone going off.
As I listened to the conversation she was having to the girl on the other end I now know as Cece, I found out that she was involved with another male. One that hurt her, used her. As I heard the list of the things she done to this girl name Loretta, I could see the satisfied grin on her face that made me smile.
I didn't realize it, but I had taken a step closer, and that made the leaves below me ruffle. I let out a breath and that's when Kora hung up, came out the car and started chanting "come out, come out, where ever you are," while walking around in circles. I chuckled seeing her walk around like that.
I knew it was useless to stay, so I decided to show myself to her. As I grew closer to her, I could see her squinting her eyes to see what I was. Then took a step back when I got close. I didn't want her to be afraid, so I smiled to her and introduced myself.
