Ashton POV
As I walked out the door, I could hear Kora yelling at her mother about us ruining her life. It kind of hurt to know that she didn't want to be with me, but I decided to myself that it's only because she doesn't know me. I take my comfort in knowing that when she does, she will love me.

"Now," I thought to myself. "All I have to do is convince her to come with me." Which was gonna be hard. I knew Ashley would make an exception if she came along, but I'm not too confident in knowing that Tyler our Alpha would make an exception for her.

He was always a man of his words, and wouldn't let Ashley back into the pack. That would be showing signs of regret and weakness. But this is my mate. I don't think he would risk the darkness filling the inside of me without her.

As I thought of all the scenarios that could happen with our conversation, I arrived at our packs camping grounds a couple of miles from Kora's house. As I settled down, Dwaine, the forth in our pack started towards me.

"Hey beta, where ya been?" I cocked my head to the side and gave him one of my best cocky grin.

"Just taking care of some business."

"Hmmm, what kinda business could that be? We're in the middle of the damn forest, and you were out there way too long to be taking a piss."

"Oh Dwaine, you and I both know what this is." Said a familiar voice. When I turned around, I saw Bruce with his mate Beth to his side. Beth wasn't much older than Kora, in fact, she was about the same age as her. Since she and Bruce found out that they were mates Beth's parents had been more than happy to let her move in with him because they knew he would protect her.

"The guy finally found a mate," Bruce chucked. "Look at him, he hasn't been this hazy since before he was announced beta."

"And even then he was always a boring stick in the mud," Beth added with a grin. "So," she said. "Who is she?"

Beth was a very perky girl. She always saw the best in someone and knew how to make them instantly smile even on their worst days. I hate to say it but ever since Bruce met her, I've been the siltiest jealous. She was good to him. She changed him in many ways.

He was so straight forward with everything. Took everything in life seriously. He never found the things in life to enjoy because he dealt with those thing as business matters, well, until he met her. She changed him a lot. He's more laid back. The first time I ever heard him crack a joke, I thought something in him was possessed.

"Actually," I said. "She's Ashley's daughter."

It was silent for a moment before Dwaine asked, "Ashley Simmons?"

"Well, she now goes by Davis, but yes. Plus, Kora is under age and she won't allow her to join our pack unless she herself is welcomed back."

"Well that seems to be another problem added to the list now doesn't it?" I turned around to see my alpha walking towards me.

"Yes, it does," I responded. Tyler, my alpha, and old friend, looked warned out with circles under his eyes indicating that he hasn't slept all night and his eyes filed with stress.

I mentally felt bad for him, he has more problems himself without adding ours to the mix. His sister had just died in a fire accident about a week ago. He was devastated and we could barely contain his wolf, considering he was more dominate than us, we had to literally fight him 6 to 1 just to calm him down. He finally was able to contain his self even though the pain of his sister still lashed out.

But I make it my duty to help him through this as he did me. A while ago, my parents died, and Tyler helped me get through all the pain I was suffering. This was before he became alpha, as he was my best friend before that. I appreciate what he did, and that is why I am repaying him by being at his side as his beta.

"But not something that we can't handle," I continued.

"I hope not," He responded, walking to a stump and sat down, and rested his head on his hands. "But good luck with this Kora. If she's anything like her mother, you're going to need it." He gave a deep chuckle at his own joke and we laughed alongside him.

"She's a very independent person," I said. "The only problem, is that she grew up surrounded by humans, making her surrounded by their expectations. She doesn't like having a wolf inside her, and she avoids anything that has anything to do with werewolves. I just wish Ashley would have tried to do better with that subject."

"Hmm, I see." Tyler said contemplating. "This is something that we have to... improve upon, I suppose. But that shouldn't be so hard." He looked up at our small group and cleared his throat. "Let us all start to settle in for the night. Everyone, let's set the tents and get comfortable for the day ahead." He then got up from his stump and walked to his tent.
