Now you've done it this time, Mendoza! What the fuck was that for? He wanted you to know that you're his and you want a declaration of love?!? Asking a bit too much, don't you think? Maine left that meeting room fuming but by the time she got to the parking lot, her initial anger has now turned to disbelief. Disbelief at her actions and disbelief at the words that came out of her mouth after RJ made his declaration. Stupid, stupid, STUPID! was the only word that kept circling her head as she was driving home. Oh god! I've gone and ruined it!

Maine finally reached her house and pulled up to the garage when she heard Sebastian, screaming his lungs out, from the inside. She hastily went inside to find Nanny Pearl looking helpless and out of sorts as she frantically try to calm Sebastian down.

"What's wrong?" Maine asked. As soon as the nanny saw Maine, she gave a huge sigh of relief.

"He's been looking for his dad the whole morning! I told him that he's at work but he still wants to see him" Nanny Pearl replied. Maine went to scoop her son up into her arms and rocked him back and forth making soothing noises.

"Hey, hey. It's ok baby. Daddy is at work right now but he will be home soon ok. Sshhh, sshhh. Mommy's here."

Sebastian looked up with tear streaked face and said "Mama? Talk dada. Plith". Looking at her son, with the sad puppy eyes, Maine was already dialling RJ's number. Please, please answer your phone. Please! By the fourth ring RJ answered.

"Hello"

"Hey RJ. Uhhhmm, your son would like to talk to you" Maine hurriedly answered and switched it to speaker phone.

"Hey buddy" was RJ's soft query.

"Daaaadaaaa!" Just like that Sebastian went from being extremely sad to extremely happy.

RJ was very patient on the other end just letting his son do all the talking, well if you call gibberish talking. After about 5 minutes, Sebastian handed the phone over to his mom and stumbled off to do what 1 year olds do.

"Hey, so uuhhhmm he's gone to do his thing" Maine stated.

"Oh. Ok. So, Uhhhmm about earlier, I would like to apologize" RJ began but Maine cut him off gently.

"Let's talk about it some other time, please" she mumbled softly.

"Ok" he states as he takes a deep breath and said his goodbye.

Maine felt guilty for cutting him off like that but the truth is, she still feels embarrassed because of her actions. Besides, she would prefer that they talk about it face to face and not over the phone.

The rest of the afternoon, went by like a breeze. Nanny Pearl headed home at as soon as Sebastian went down for a nap. By the time 6pm came along, Maine was starting to become worried. She hasn't heard from RJ. Not a phone call or a text. Usually, he would be home by now or he would've sent numerous text giving Maine a blow by blow of how his day is going. It's a little unsettling. She must've checked her phone a thousand times and each time walked away disappointed. Why don't you text or call him then? Why does he have to be the one doing it? Maine made up her mind to call him when she heard someone opening the front door. She ran expecting it to be RJ but was stopped short when she saw her parents walking in. Ted and Maryann looked up to see the disappointment pass on Maine's face but was quickly replaced with a wide smile. Ted opened up his arms and Maine ran into them to be engulfed in her father's arms. Next she turned to her mom and hugged her as well.
