I thought for sure this would be an easy chapter to write, but boy was I wrong! I struggled so much in imagining the actual wedding that's why it took this long to post this update. I still feel it's not up to par but I couldn't find any more ways to elaborate. It took me a while before I could get going.
I hope you enjoy it anyway. Thank you!*credits to the owner of the videos and pictures*
-------------------------------------------------------Fall is easily Maine's favourite season among the four. The temperature has cooled down, the array of colours on the trees range from yellow to orangy brown and the world is busy preparing for the coming cold winter season. There's something magical about the smell of clean, crisp air and the sound of Canadian geese migrating to the south.
Today is no different. The array of colours outside is highlighted by the rays of the sun which is high atop the sky. It's the end of October but one would think it's the end of August from the temperature outside. Yay! The weather gods are smiling down on us today!
Not only was the weather cooperating but it seemed like everything was falling into place. Oh there were minute glitches here and there but overall, it was perfect. 'It was turning out to be a great day' were Coleen's exact words.
Maine could hear the muffled buzz of sounds and voices coming from downstairs and from the back of the house. She's standing (well more like pacing) with her shoes in her hands, by the bay windows, waiting for her cue to go down the stairs. Coleen had been very specific that Maine does not leave the confines of her bedroom until she gets the go signal. The real Maine would've defied her sister by now if she wasn't so tense and so nervous.
Then just as she was about to put her shoes back on and run downstairs (Coleen's instructions be damned), her phone dinged signalling a text.
RJ:
1:55 pm: Love? How are you holding up?
Maine:
1:55 pm: I'm a nervous wreck! I don't know why! But I'm almost at the 'freakin out' point! How about you?
RJ:
1:56 pm: I'm ok, I think. But..
Maine:
1:56 pm: BUT WHAT?!?
RJ:
1:56 pm: I'm standing outside your door.
Maine:
1:57 pm: Wait...what?!?Maine threw her phone on the bed and ran to the door. She was about to wrench it open when something stopped her. Maybe because whether she admits it or not, she is, in fact scared of Coleen after all. Coleen specifically instructed her that she and RJ are not to see each other until the ceremony itself. She was very adamant about that.
"Meng, I know that you and RJ have this unconventional love story and I'm very happy that you have found such happiness . But please, all I ask is we keep one tradition. Promise me that you won't go running to RJ the moment you realize he's in the house. Keep the element of surprise alive dear sister! Let him be blown away when he sees you walking down the aisle, walking towards him. PROMISE ME!" Those were Coleen's words.
So Maine promised with a matching pinky swear. Childish? Yes, but 'pinky swears' have always been and always will be it seems, their way of sealing a promise among her and her siblings. Deep in her heart, Maine knows that if she opens the door right now, her sister will be solely disappointed in her. So, Maine did what she could.
"RJ? Love? I can't open this door, even if I really want to, because I made a promise to Coleen and believe it or not, I intend to keep it." She explained while putting her hand on the door, as if RJ could see her.
"I know" RJ responded with a defeated sigh. "Coleen talked to me earlier too. I guess, I was hoping your rebellious self will come out and defy her. But, I understand. It doesn't mean I have to like it." He added while leaning his forehead on the door.
