Danique gave the girl, who told everyone to start to scoot over, a polite smile. She sat down on the bench at the Gryffindor table. She looked up as plates, cups and silverware came in through the doors of the Great Hall, floating in the air in a steady pace. She couldn't help but look a little surprised, back at Beauxbaton the tables were always set before dinner. She looked away as the tables was being set by magic.
Danique shouldn't have been so surprised to see a lot of eyes on her, after all she would have been curious herself. A blush started to form on her round cheeks, she was neither good or comfortable with being the center of attention. Danique quickly looked down to her hands, as they were the most interesting thing in the world.
"Oh, come on you guys. Give the poor girl a break." The girl who sat beside her said. "I am Emily by the way." The girl, Emily, continued with her gaze pointed at the new student sitting next to her.
Danique teared her eyes from her hands and looked up to met a friendly pair of grey colored eyes. "I am Danique." She introduced herself, a hint of her accent being exposed. Usually her English was excellent, but whenever she gets nervous it's there.
Emily smiled against Danique as she noticed that the blush still fought to remain on her cheeks, as well as the girl spoke quietly. "Well, welcome to Gryffindor." Emily said before she looked at all the food that had been placed on the table. "You should definitely start grabbing food, before it is too late. Some people at this table tend to eat a lot." Emily chuckled as she felt a glare from Ronald Weasley.

Danique didn't eat much at dinner that evening, honestly her appetite had not been the best since that. She sat down on her bed with a sigh, noticing that the cage was empty which brought a smile on her lips, happy for Damia.
She sighed yet another time before standing up and opening her trunk, which stood at the end of her bed. She opened it to take out her pyjamas and the new book she wanted to start reading. It felt like a good punch to the stomach when she opened up her trunk, only to be met by the moving photograph of her and her father, standing at the top of the Eiffel Tower. She carefully draged her finger across the frame, heart aching. Danique placed the frame on the bedside table and sat down on the bed again. A sound in the doorway startled her, causing her to turn around with her wand ready. Emily stood in the doorway with her hands up in the air, symbolizing that she came with peace.
"Woah, there. Calm down, it's just me." She said with a slight shocked expression on her face. Danique's eyes widened a bit as she realized she had been ready to fight her.
"Sorry.." She mumbled. "I was in so deep thougts I think I forgot were I was for a second." She explained. Emily nodded slowly, walking across the room to sit down next to Danique. "I didn't see you in the common room, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try look for you here." Emily said.
She bit the inside of her cheek, trying to come up with an excuse other than "yeah, sorry. I just suck at socializing, so I make a complete fool of myself whenever I try."
Instead she said, "Its been a long day, I just felt like reading for a bit before going to sleep." She said with an apologetic tone. A way to put it was that she was a little surprised Emily even had thought of her to begin with.
Emily looked towards Danique's bedside table. "Who is this?" She asked as she moved closer to get a better look of the picture. Danique cleared her throat before answering that it was her dad, upon which Emily just nodded her head.
They sat in complete silence for a little while, Daniques brain going over and over trying to find something else to talk about, anything else but her father.
