Sitting down at her desk in McGonagall's classroom, Transfiguration to be more specific, Professor McGonagall already sat behind her desk, looking up at her with a frown on her face.
"Dear, is everything alright?"
Danique looked up at the professor as she had been rummaging through her school bag, trying to find the right book. Trying to look as puzzled as possible meeting McGonagall's gaze. "Uh, yes.. Yes, everything is perfectly fine." She said forcing a smile onto her lips.
Seeing the next expression on her professors' face, she knew she had failed in trying to convince her that everything was just how it should be.
"I just want you to know I am here if you need me, I am the head of the Gryffindor House for a reason dear. I can't even imagine how heavy it would be to carry around that bagage of yours, and there's certainly no reason for you to struggle on your own."
She slightly smiled to herself after hearing her words, Danique had just been acting as everything was alright (and failed to say at least) but McGonagall had hit the nail straight on its head anyway.
It didn't take long after their little chat until more and more students showed up, ready to start their first class of the semester, the first class of the day. To avoid eye contact Danique was reading through some random pages in the book, that she finally had found at the bottom of her school bag. She could feel people's glances at her, maybe even stares. It made her very uncomfortable, after all she wasn't used to getting attention. Danique hastily glanced up as someone sat down on the chair next to her, being relieved as it was just Emily. "You alright?" The blonde haired girl asked as she took out her book from her bag. Danique just gave her a nodd, not really sure if she should apologize for just storming off like that, without further explanation.
Just as she was going to make up some kind of apology, McGonagall clapped her hands together standing in front of the whole class.
"The Weasley twins! How lovely that you decided to show up on todays lesson, in time no less!" She said with a little smirk on her lips, sending out a hint of teasing in her voice.
"Why, of course." Honestly, Danique couldn't say which one it was who said it, not even if her life was hanging loose on the line.
"Let's get this class started then, shall we?"
After the first class was over, she sighed to herself as she put her bag over her shoulder, trying to catch up with Emily.
"Emily, wait up!" It seemed as Emily either actually didn't hear her or, most likely, she just ignored her and continued walking towards her destination. Finally catching up with her, being out of breath and having to bend down with her hands at her knees for support, only to realize that Emily was a head of her again.
"Okay, I am sorry."
"You're sorry?"
"Yeah.. That's what I said, wasn't it?"
"You're sorry? For what exactly, running off just like that out of nowhere? Because you could just have told me yesterday when I asked you that you weren't interested!"
Danique just looked at her with empty eyes. "But I was. Everything just became too overwhelming this morning. I am sorry for my behavior." Feelings had never been her strong side, she was a very emotional person. She could be so emotional she wasn't even sure what she was feeling, dealing with so many feelings at once. The problem wasn't that she's cold hearted or numb, the problem layed at expressing them.
"I tend to feel a lot all at once which means that I get overwhelmed often. Let's just say that this morning didn't go easy on me." She explained being more uncomfortable than she she should be.
