Circumspect [George Weasley]

Chapter Six

Danique sat on a bench in the middle of the hallway, she just wanted some time to herself. She had underestimated how fast words spread in this castle, it had not taken long before everyone knew about this morning. The worst thing of it all was that rumours were spread all over the place, as well. Some of them were just too bizarre, she couldn't believe that people actually believed them. Earlier this morning she had heard one of the younger students whisper to his friend about this rumour that said that Danique had been held hostige in the basement by an evil wizard. Every night he would come down in the basment and torture her, only because he wanted the girl to spill information about her family's whereabouts. Apparently her parents and the very evil wizard had a rather tough past between them. Danique rolled her eyes just by thinking about the rumours, she was tired of hearing about  them. She just wanted to be left alone, the last thing she wanted when she got here was all of this attention. It would be a whole lot easier if she would go unnoticed.

Danique sighed to herself, no matter how much she tried she couldn't get the images out of her head. The images represented her father lying on the kitchen floor, arms over his head begging the men to stop. Danique squeezed her eyes shut before she let her head rest in the palms of her hands.

Earlier this morning when McGonagall had calmed her down, she had been taken to Dumbledore's office. She had been asked different questions about the night terror, the images she had seen, the nightmares and how much she remembered from the attack. Much to her displeasure her Uncle had been informed about the whole occurrence. That was the last thing he needed right now, it seemed as her Uncle worried enough already. It wouldn't surprise her if he got diagnosed with a heart condition soon, that's how much he worried about her. She understood that being aware of his niece's struggle wouldn't make things easier for him. Especially since they still didn't know much about the attack. After all there had only been two witnesses, one was dead and the other one was suffering from severe amnesia. They still didn't know who it was that had attacked them, let alone the cause behind it.

Her emerald green eyes scanned the hallway when she heard laughter around her. Soon her gaze met two first year students that ran over the shiny marble-like floor, racing to their next class. She smiled to herself, she missed the days were playing and having fun was the only important thing that mattered. She followed the young boys with her gaze until they rounded the corner and disappeared out of her sight, she turned her attention towards the big windows instead. It seemed like the weather outside matched how she felt today. It was raining and overall it looked quite dull.

McGonagall and Dumbledore had wanted her to take the day off, since this morning had been far from her usual one. Also, it seemed like hallucinating in your sleep didn't leave you with much energy afterwards. Danique had declined the offer to get the day off because she felt like that would only draw more attention to her. It would send out the vibes that the situation had been rather serious, more serious than it actually had been.

Danique almost jumped out of her seat when suddenly someone spoke next to her. Danique had quickly been brought out of her deep thoughts. She looked up at the person who had been speaking just a few seconds ago, only to realize that it was Emmy Smith.

"I'm so sorry! It wasn't my intention to scare you like that! I was walking by and I noticed that you were sitting here all by yourself." Emmy said with an aplogizing smile.

"No it's alright. I was in pretty deep thouhts anyway." Danique followed the girls movements with her gaze as Emmy decided to sit down on the bench. They sat in complete silence for a few good seconds before Emmy decided to speak again. "Are you alright?"

Danique raised her eyebrows a few millimeters once the question reached her eardrums. That she had gotten surprised was the least to say, she wasn't expecting Emmy to care for someone she hardly knew.
