Pic of Tyne below>>

My whole body immediately froze as I was sucked into a memory of the very first time Mari and I met.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"My name is Adamaris but you can call me Mari, what's your name?" She said in a voice that sounded like a bell.
"My name is Iris." I said in a quiet voice. She drifted closer to the rock I was sitting on and held my hand, "You don't have to be scared of me, I won't hurt you. I just want to be your friend and thank you for saving me. I'm six, how old are you" She said and I awed at the musical sound of her voice.
"I'm five, um is your father the king of the sea?" She smiled, happy that I was finally opening up to her. "Oh no, but he is the king's advisor." I smiled. I always dreamt of meeting a mermaid after watching the movie. I had so many questions to ask. "Do you have lots of sisters?" I said excitedly. She shook her head, "No, it's just me and my older brother, Tyne."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was pulled back into the present by Tyne shaking me. "Earth to Iris. Hello! Is anybody home?" He said waving his hand in front of my face. I turned toward him and smiled sheepishly, "Sorry did you say something?" His face turned serious, "I asked you why you froze up like that when I told you my sister's name." I swallowed and looked away from him back into the fire. "How long ago was it that she went missing?"

He seemed confused on why I changed the subject but answered anyway, "About four years give or take." I instantly felt my blood run cold. Four years ago was around the time that I left for college! It was also around the time that Mari and I had the argument about me going to college.

 Ever since I was a kid I was always a horrible liar. That's part of the reason that I never had many friends, I told people exactly what I thought of them. So how in the world was I suppose to tell one of the cutest AND nicest guys i've ever met that I was most likely the last person to see his sister and I am the one he's been searching for for almost five years?!

He gently grabbed my chin and turned my face back at him. I tried to move my face away but coupled with the intense stare of those green eyes and the sparks that I felt from where his skin came into contact with mine I was definitely a goner.

"Iris you need to tell me the truth right now. I need to hear it from you. Do you know my sister?" He spoke low but the way his tone was I felt like he was either talking to me like I was a child who snuck out after curfew or a suspect who was being interrogated.

I finally forced my way out of his grip and stood up from the ground, just then Paige and Dave came back. Paige said something but I didn't hear what it was because I was running away back to the house.

I burst through the back door with tears streaming down my face. I didn't care that I was covered in sand or that I was still in my jean shorts and Black Veil Brides band t-shirt with my converse. I ran up the long staircase until I finally pushed my door open and collapsed on my bed. I was never one to run away from my problems, I always faced them head on to save myself the frustration but with me being told my best friend had gone missing, most likely because of me, I felt just so emotionally drained that I couldn't take it anymore.

I closed my eyes and snuggled deeper into my flower printed duvet. I was close to falling asleep until I heard a loud banging on my door.

"Iris I know you're in there I saw the sand trail. You need to open this door right now and tell me what the hell is going on." Paige yelled at me through the door. When the banging started again I put a pillow over my head and squeezed my eyes shut. I couldn't possibly tell Paige that mermaids exist she would think I was crazy or worse. Isn't there like a rule book or something about that?

"Well since you've decided to suffer in silence I decided Tyne was staying the night so don't freak out when you see him on the couch in the morning." Paige said and banged on the door one more time before walking across the hall to her room and slamming the door.

I removed the pillow from my head and sighed, unlike lucky people who ran from their problem and could breathe for atleast a few hours, my problem was sleeping on my couch.

Fuck my life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would say I'm sorry for taking so long but i know you guys would still probably hate me. But if you don't hate me and actually want a reason why I haven't written so long here it is.
As you know school has started and it is definitely kicking my ass. Also I got really sick a couple weeks ago and it took me awhile to get better. AND I was busy studying for my drivers test because with all my moving around I wasn't able to get it UNTIL NOW!
Anyways I'm gonna try and make some kind of schedule for uploads but it's kind of hard to set aside some time to write. So until then Vote, Comment, and Add to your libraries/reading list. But seriously all it takes is one vote and it makes me so happy and it really does help me write faster. So until next time!!!! -Lily out! ;)
