When I got home from work I found a note on the table,

Dear Iris,

I went out to get some take-out since apparently no one knows where this blip of a town is. The nearest Chinese place is like three towns away so I'll be gone for a few hours. I promise to bring you back some sweet and sour chicken. Until then!

I sighed knowing that I would probably be gone by the time she got back and god knew when I was returning. I went upstairs and stripped off all my work clothes and put on some comfortable cotton shorts and a tank top. Exhausted I flopped on to my bed on my back and fell asleep.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know that moment where you see red because you're so mad at someone or something? I never did exactly until I was woken up by water being splashed in my face. I coughed and sputtered as the water went up my nose, I rubbed my eyes to try to focus on the person who assaulted me and my beautiful slumber. "You know Tyne you are probably the ultimate asshole in this very moment." I said as I sat up and walked to the bathroom to retrieve a towel to dry my hair off.

Tyne followed me to the bathroom and when I found a towel to dry off with he simply snatched it out of my hand and threw it back in the closet with the others. "You're just lucky it was warm water I was pretty tempted to ice it up." I rolled my eyes and flipped him the bird grabbing the towel again. "Besides you shouldn't worry about just a cup of water, not where we're going," He quickly glanced at the clock on the wall. "Anyways it's 11:45 we better go if we want to get you in the water by 12." He snatched the towel from me and threw it in the sink and then took my hand to lead me out of the bathroom and down the stairs to the back doors.

"So how are we going to do this?" I asked Tyne once we made it to the shoreline. He checked his watch, "Alright it's 11:57 so first things first. Get in the water." I rolled my eyes at the attitude in his voice but followed him into the water anyway and he stopped once we were knee deep. "Okay so I'm going to have to do and say some weird things so don't ask any questions, you'll only annoy me." My eyes widened, "But-" He raised an eyebrow, "What did I just say?" I rolled my eyes again and mentally flipped him off. "Great, now don't get freaked out about what I'm going to do." He said as he pulled a pocket knife out of his pocket.

"Underbar gudinna av den månsken, jag komma före ni till be att ni ta detta dotter enligt din ljus så att hon kan hjälpa mig på min resan. Vänligen stöd detta ceremoni, amen."  (Wonderful goddess of moonlight, I come before you to ask that you take this daughter under your light so she can help me on my journey. Please support this ceremony, amen).

He spoke in a language I didn't understand and when he was done he ran the blade of his knife over the palm of his hand. I watched as his silver blood leaked out of the cut and pooled in his palm before over filling and dropping into the sea where it shimmered in the moonlight. "You have to drink my blood now. When you consume it you won't turn into a mermaid but you'll be able to swim faster, see, hear, talk, and breathe underwater." I looked at him like he was crazy "Whoa bro I don't know what kelp you've been snacking on but I will be damned if-" I barely had time to react before Tyne grabbed the back of my neck and smashed his lips onto my own.

I just stood there for a moment in shock not responding to the kiss. It was only until I tasted something pooling in my mouth and spilling down my throat that I actually reacted by biting his lip. He ignored it and didn't remove his lips until he transferred all of the blood from his mouth to mine. When he took a step back I fully expected to be nauseated by the taste of his blood but surprisingly it tasted like fresh water. "We're almost done now there's only one thing left to do." He said and walked closer to me. Tyne circled his arms right underneath my bottom before lifting me in the air.
