Our Complicated Love

Chapter 9

I swam under a bridge like rock and through a small hole that seemed to open up into a large carven. The scene before me made me stop and look on with confusion. A couple seconds later Tyne entered, "Iris you can't just swim off like that what were you thin- what the hell?" I blinked a few times and rubbed my eyes. "You can see what I see right?"

He nodded, "If it's a penguin in the middle of a mating party of jellyfish then yeah I do." I nodded once, "Good." The cavern was filled to the brim with large pink jellyfish the only source of light was a hole at the very top of the cave and down at the very bottom through all the pink you could just barely catch an occasional glimpse of black, white, and gold. "What is an emperor penguin doing in the middle of the pacific ocean?" Tyne shrugged at my question and cupped his hands over his mouth, "Hey! Are you okay?" He shouted down at the shivering penguin.

"What the hell do you think?!" A female voice emerged from underneath the blanket of pink. Who knew a penguin would have so much sass? Tyne looked at me, "Well Iris you're the princess and the only way to get that loud mouth out of this situation is to order them to move."

"I heard that you asshole!" I glared at Tyne and he simply shrugged. "Anyways, how do I do it? Just ask them to move?" He shrugged again and nooded his head. I rolled my eyes and cleared my throat a little, "Um excuse me everyone." When everything stayed the same the "damsel in distress" spoke up again. "You have to try a little harder then that girlfriend!"

Tyne snickered behind me but I ignored him and cleared my throat and raised my voice. When I spoke again I felt something warm crawl up from the pit of my stomach and release itself with my words. "Ladies and gentlemen," the entire cavern seem to pause and you could almost feel the authority in the air. "I'm very sorry but you will have to take your mating session else where. There is another in the cavern that is not of your kind and she is finding it very unpleasant to move so could you please make a path so I can get through?"

Everyone including Tyne and sass mouth seemed to bow at my words and slowly the jellyfish moved to the walls of the cave so that I could finally see her. For some reason the sight of the female butler made my heart clench. She was curled in the fetal position and when I picked her up she curled in to the warmth of my chest. I always thought that emperor penguins were these mini people because of their height but she was alot smaller only about two or three foot.

She snuggled her head further in to my chest, "Please raise your head." I said as I stroked her back. She sat up in my arms looked into my eyes and for a second I was a little shocked. My eyes used to be a dark brown but my eyes that were reflecting back at me were entirely different colors. My left eye was blue and my right was purple. The longer I stared into her black eyes I started to notice her eyes changing from her regular black in to blue and purple to match my eyes.

"What's your name little one?" I said as I smiled warmly at her. "P-Pearl your majesty." She stuttered looking up at me. It felt kind of weird to be addressed so formally. "Call me Iris."

She shook her head, "I don't understand the king hasn't had any children but you're obviously a royal." I rolled my eyes, "It's a long story, anyway how did you get down here?" She rolled her eyes and clucked her tongue, "Okay so you aren't gonna believe this. So there I was swimming around minding my own buisness when this giant squid came rushing at me. I just barely was able to get out of the way but as it passed me the last thing I can remember is a tentacle coming towards me. Then I woke up here."

I looked at Tyne at the same time he looked at me, he snickered as I glared at him. I looked back at Pearl to see her looking back and forth between us. "Did I miss something?"

Before Tyne could say anything I pointed at him, "He did it!" She immediately started glaring at Tyne, "YOU SON OF A-" I saved my ears by zoning out and focusing again on her eyes that now were an exact copy of mine. "YOU STUPID LITTLE BIT-" Tyne came from behind me and wrapped his hand around her beak immediately silencing her. "Would you shut up. I did what I did to save Iris." She rolled her eyes but didn't say anything else. Tyne then pulled her face closer to his and looked into her eyes then looked at my eyes and back to hers. He repeated the action a couple more times before I said something, "What are you doing?"
