I am currently in the living room watching Star Wars and consuming a tub of Ben and Jerry's.

"Dammit! You fudging bastard! Yeah, kill that crazy man! He killed his own father! Go, Rey!" I shout at the television as I angrily scoop my ice cream.

It was a Saturday night and Wade went off to a family dinner somewhere outside the city. His mom said I didn't need to be there since they were with him and it wouldn't take that long. So, here I am, watching a Star Wars movie marathon alone in the living room.

My parents aren't home until 2 AM since they had something to take care of at the main office which makes the house mine for the time being.

The week went by pretty much boring, the same old routine, endless bickering with Wade, going to the mall with Ella, and a bunch of homework. It's kind of quiet considering Wade is not here. Not that I want him here, it's just so...unusual.

I freely lie down on the length of the sofa with a Spiderman blanket while cuddling up with some teddy bear to at least keep me company. It's not like the Nun will pop out somewhere in the paintings plastered on the wall......Or not.

Suddenly feeling fear creeping at the back of my mind, I turned the TV's volume up. James had already been dropped off at the agency with my parents earlier this morning. The kiddo even said he'd pay me a visit soon after sorting out the whole messy kidnap kebab.

My cellphone blasted its Marimba sound which made me slightly jump out of surprise.

Chill, it's just a phone. Not when I feel like some horrible-looking monster will pop out somewhere in my house. They won't, right?

Who would call me in the middle of the night? I grabbed my phone which was laying on the living room table and saw the caller ID. I simply rolled my eyes and answered, "What?"

"Well, hello to you too, princess," Wade greeted and I could already sense the smile in his voice.

"What do you need? You wouldn't be calling me in the middle of the freakin' night for nothing." I roll my eyes while saying this. Always ready to annoy me, ugh.

"Well, I figured you would be having a movie marathon so you would be awake and I thought I'd check in," he said all in one breath as he rehearsed it a hundred times.

I quickly looked around me. "How did you know I'm having a movie marathon? And checking what?" I can't help but ask. Check on what? Like if I had gone bonkers because I was alone? "If you're okay." His tone was serious, he must be really worried.

With that, my stomach made twists and turns making me feel something I couldn't pinpoint over. My heart pumped more blood than usual and felt my cheeks heat up.

"Why wouldn't I be okay?" I chuckled. It's not like there's someone who's going to barge in my house and start taking all my stuff.

"I just had a bad feeling, that's all," he replied sounding relieved as he breathed out like he was holding on to it for a long time.

"So what's up?" I said as I see the credits of the second movie started. I went to the kitchen to find more food to eat. Just then, I thought I heard something shuffle from the backdoor.

My ears and eyes immediately perked up at the sudden sound and I slowly looked for something as a defense. I grabbed the nearest thing, which was a freaking frying pan about 16 inches in diameter from the dishwasher and held it tight on my left hand.

"Uh, hello? Are you still there?"

"Yeah? I'm just going in the kitchen to get more food," I replied my voice began to sound quiet. My pace is slow as I reach the area where I swore I heard a sound. Who would be at this late hour? It's already past 11:30 pm. I looked behind the curtains by the window.
