I sighed as I enter the school doors. Another day of school. Fantastic, now I was gaining attention first thing in the morning with this stupid cast on.
I groaned in frustration because I had to dodge several students to avoid hitting my right arm which was still a little bit painful.
I walked towards my locker which was on the east side hallway. The school's blue lockers were vandalized and they didn't even bother to properly repaint them. Kids are playing here and there. As I walk towards the hallway, some weird looks and whispers were thrown around me like catapults and canons, and glares, particularly from the females, landed my way. I spotted Ella waiting for me by my locker.
"Hi, Ella! I'm so sorry I wasn't able to come over and hang out, I had a bit of a situation," I smiled apologetically while raising my casted arm in a shoulder sling.
"Oh no! What happened, Jess?" she hurried her way towards me as she examined my arm.
"I fell down the stairs," I lied. There's no way I'm going to say 'oh, I just got hit by a bullet'. "That is bad! Are ypu okay? I hope you get well soon," she smiled sweetly. Ella was a sweet girl, understanding too. "I'm okay now. Let's hang out later after class?" I suggested. At least I had to maintain a friendship in this school regardless of the whole bodyguard disguise fiasco.
"Sure! How about let's go to the mall? I want to go shopping!" she exclaimed as she jumped excitedly. "Okay!" I replied trying to match her energy. She was way too energetic early in the morning.
I turned to my locker and opened it to grab some of my books for the next class but a bunch of papers welcomed me, making a mess on the floor utterly covering my shoes. Great, just great.
Such a wonderful way to officially start my day. I sighed annoyingly, rolled my eyes, and squatted to pick up the bunch of trash.
Another day of empty threats.
The second bell woke me up from my thoughts and quickly just shoved the papers in the trash. Running to my class, I almost tripped because of a lost pencil and cursed it.
Just as I entered the room, Ms. Fields also entered. That was close! I sighed and smiled in relief and sat in the right dark corner of the room. I could faintly hear the high-pitched voice of Ms. Fields as I doodle at the back of my Math notebook.
Where's Wade? That question kept popping up in my head. He could be busy flirting with girls. But I didn't see him with girls after I entered the school...Heck, I haven't seen him yet.
Not to sound like what you probably think, I'm just inferring that he's probably hanging out with girls. I could already imagine girls in each of his arms, laughing. I shook my head as I dismiss those thoughts and try to listen to Ms. Fields as she gave me a warning glare when I yawned and was on the verge of closing my eyes.
Sorry, can't help it, Ms. Fields. I'll ace all the exams anyway.
The scent of sweet strawberry candies that the blonde girl sitting in front of me had triggered a massive headache. I had a hard time keeping my focus and I was becoming really sleepy. I couldn't anymore control my eyelids as they slowly go down and close. My vision darkened and I could hear faintly other people's laughs.
BANG
Ouch. My head hit the desk. Instinctively, I quickly shot up and open my eyes and saw that everyone was looking at me, yes, everyone including Ms. Fields and the blonde girl I was talking about earlier.
Everyone burst into laughter and whispered as Ms. Fields handed me a detention slip.
Damn. This can't be happening! My reputation is now officially ruined.
