#8: The Invitation

It was already morning.
The battle ended. Aika's level went up and the rest of the guild member. Shira pulled Rin's collar. "Do you badly want to die?", Shira shook him. "I'm near at defeating it", Rin pouted. "Are you really stupid?!", Shira punched him. The paralyze skill was already broken. "Why are you yelling at me?", Rin asked with his usual bored tone. "There are already 400 players who died in this game. And you're here ending your life as if its not important", Shira clenched her fist. "Mah, mah, let's end this discussion and go out of this dungeon for a while", Fye pushed the two heading out of the exit. They ended up in a forest. Fye innitiated a picnic. Aika is busy healing Rin's wounds. Akame watched Shiro while creating a map. Aris and Shira were assigned to pick up logs.

"You look pretty in your new clothe", Aris gave a thumbs up. "Thank you for giving it to me", Shira said in a low voice. "I cant hear you", Aris teased. "Shira, you have to be more honest with yourself", Aris adviced. "It's not that you were angry at Rin a while ago. I'm a human in this game. My special technique is sympathizing whether players or NPC's. The truth is that you are worried about the guy", Aris smiled and landed his hand on Shira's shoulder. "A---rissss", Shira glared at him. "I never gave you the permission to touch me", Shira informed.

They went back and saw that there were no one left. Shira checked the location of her and saw them 2 meters away. Aris and Shira went to check on them and saw them swimming on a river with a waterfalls. Shira faced palmed. "Come join us", Shiro called out. He went out of the water and went closer to Shira. He's topeless and wearing a three fourths. Shira averted her stares and humphed him. "You're so stingy. Come on", Shiro pulled her hand and Shira bumped on his chest. (Kyahhh!!! By: author) Shira flushed but hid it from Shiro. "Dont touch me", Shira glared. Shiro had a smirk and pushed Shira on the water. "I'm not here to play!", Shira shouted. The eyeglassed man pointed into the deeper area. Shira saw a figure and realized it was Rin. He was smilling and enjoying the waters. "I think we cannot leave right now", Shiro smiled.

Aika went close to Shira and splashed water. "Hay!", Aika called her attention. Shira went with the flow and played with Aika. Akame is chasing fishes on the water. "I'd be going ahead to prepare the foods", Fye excused himself. "What's wrong with Fye? He's been quiet the whole time", Shira asked Aika. "I'm not really sure but he's still smilling", Aika informed. Rin went close to Shira. "Thank you", Rin gave a red gem-like pendant. Shira's eyes widened. "Cute", she smiled and was fascinated. "I'm satisfied that you made that kind of face", Rin gave a slight smile. "Rin, can we talk somewhere else?", Shira invited. They ended inside a peaceful cave.

"Rin, you're 15 years old arent you. Sorry, I just checked on your information", Shira opened. "How did you do that?", Rin asked. "Higher levels can check a lot on your information. Your location, your age, and even some of your memories but I dont often use that. You were the first person whom I used that technique to", Shira informed. "That explains why you are giving me special treatment. You hate boys, dont you?", Rin noticed. "It's not that I hate guys. Older guys but Fye is an exception", Shira answered. "Then, why did you call me here?", Rin asked. "Rin, you cannot be alone in this world. It's dangerous. I mean....its just that...", Shira stuttered. "You've peeked into my memories", Rin sighed. "You're not alone right now. I am here. I can be there for you. I was wrong when I scolded you. But I didnt regret that. Life is really full of unfair things but we should still be grateful to be alived", Shira said in a serious voice.

Rin's Past

'Rin's POV
I was left in front of the orphanage house. I grew up with no parents but just people who are goody goody. It was 5 years old when I was adopted by a man. Who soon to be found as a sindicate. I was lucky to go to school and eat 2 times a day. Everyday is a battle in my life. Whenever I am sick, no one will take care. Whenever I commit mistake, I receive wounds. My food arent the same as the ones with the rest of the kids. I was able to escape my reality because of Log Online. My pain drifts away.

"Rin, do you get where this is going?", Shira called out. "I have nowhere to belong. Even in this world, no one wants to be my friend. You only took me as a friend because of Saruhiko. No one really invites me because I have value for them", Rin smiled. Shira's heart felt a thug. "You're wrong. I invited you ahead because I've seen your pain. I wasnt just honest with my feelings so I used Saruhiko. I'm not lying", Shira opened. "Then, can you provide me a place to belong?", Rin asked. "She cannot. She's not even honest with herself. So I will. I will provide a place for you, Rin", Shiro went down the cave and gave Rin a hug. "Call me Big Bro", Shiro tighten his hug. "That was a tough life. Once we go back to the real world, I'll be looking for you and will take care of you", Shiro promised.

Rin's tears flowed.
Invitation accepted.
