I walk to school, my hair covering my eyes so I don't have to make any immediate eye contact with anyone. My backpack is filled with books and papers. Ew... School. I walk along the edge of the curb, my superb balancing skills kicking in. I look at the school building, taller than any of the homes that I'm passing by.

I finally reach the school, looking at the huge building. I open one of the doors and walk inside. I stop by my locker before heading out to the field to my favorite tree. I still have about an hour before school starts. I climb up the tree, settling on the tallest branch. I pull my hood down as the wind catches my hair.

I watch as kids start pouring into the school half an hour later. I climb out of the tree, jumping from the second branch. I land on my feet, starting to walk back to the building. I pull my hood up and put my hands in my pockets before walking into one of the doors. I shake my head, letting my hair fall into my face.

I walk into class, picking up one of the books from under a desk. I sit down and start reading. The teacher walks in and glances at me.

"You're here early again, Rain."

I don't give any answer as the teacher settles in his desk.

"Don't you have anything better to do?"

Still no answer.

The teacher glances at me and laughs, saying, "We've got a new arrival today. Would you like to show her around?"

This catches my attention.

"You want me to show someone that I don't even know around the school?" I set the book on my desk.

"Yes, I do. It would be appreciated."

"Screw appreciation..." I add under my breath. I pick up my book and start reading again.

They want me to show some new kid around? I think Well fine, but I don't think I'll be very helpful...

The bell rings and the kids start pouring into the classroom. I plug some earbuds into my phone and put on some music to start the day. I pay no attention as the teacher stands up and introduces the new student.

"Rain."

I don't answer.

"RAIN."

The tension in his voice makes my head snap up, my jet-black hair uncovering one of my eyes.

I take out and earbud and say, "Yes sir?"

"Stand up. This is our new arrival."

I stand up and look at the girl in the front of the classroom. She looks pretty normal accept for one thing: Her deep, emerald green eyes. I can't stop looking at them.

"Hello, my name is Liz."
