I open the door, only to hear rain pounding on the sidewalk. I look around the side of the house, finding someone standing by the door.

"Hey, Rain. Remember me?"

He steps into the brightness of the porch light. His grey-white hair, his blue left eye and his white right eye.

"Yeah, I remember you, Raven." I smile at the boy, having felt relief at his appearance and not Liz's. I step out and close the door behind me. I leave the safety of the gutter and stand out in the rain, soaking my hair and clothes.

"I haven't seen you in forever. What's up?" He picks at one of his fingernails.

"There's this new girl in school. I don't hardly remember her, but she seems to know a lot about me." I kick at one of the rocks surrounding the garden.

"What's her name?" He looks at me curiously.

"Liz." I look at him with confused eyes.

He takes a PSP out of his pocket and inserts a disc cartridge. I hear the noises start as the handheld game system boots up.

"You mean Liz Dragonfield?" He looks at me and then back to his game.

I look at him, surprised. "Yeah, Liz Dragonfield. How do you know her?"

He grins and glances up at me again. "You were her best friend when you guys were nine. How do you not remember those eyes? Crap, he freaking critical hit me!"

I scoff at him and look up into the rain. I walk over to him and sit on the cold, stone porch. He sits down with me.

"I know it's weird, but I don't hardly remember a thing..." He hits a whole bunch of random keys to attack computer character.

"I don't know how you can't... I remember her, plain as day." He says as he keeps attacking the enemy.

"Put that freaking game away, I can't think..." I laugh as he starts shutting it down. "Thank you. When she said something about us being best friends and that's it's been eight years since we last saw each other, I remembered her face. And now I'm remembering something from my ninth birthday."

He looks at me. "You're such a dunce, Rain. She left that day. You spent the rest of the day after your party in your room." He looks out at the rain.

I stare with him at the rain, just sitting in silence for a moment. I stand up and shake my head, little beads of rain flying off my hair and face.

"I better go back to sleep. Go home, Raven. Come back tomorrow." I look at him briefly before heading back inside.
