All Rain ever knew was the feeling of being alone. He never had any friends. That is, until the day the new girl saved him from the darkness of his heart.

When lunch ends, and Raven finally leaves, I climb down from the tree and head back into the building. I look around, not seeing Liz anywhere. I head inside, thinking that she must already be in the classroom.
When I walk into the classroom, she's not there either. She was just here a few minutes ago! I leave the room and start looking around the school. She's got to be here!
"Liz?! Liz, where are you?!" I run through the halls, searching frantically. Where in the hell did she go?
I run out of the building, checking around the the school and the elementary school. She's in neither of those places.
A while later, I stop and take a breather. I start thinking about where she could have gone. I think about when I was walking to school, noting how she came down a street exactly halfway between my house and the school. That's it, she might've gone home...
Rain.... Where are you?
I turn around, thinking that she was right behind me.
"Liz?!"
But that wasn't her... It was, but it wasn't.... I heard the same thing in my dream in class.... Those words...
A picture flashes in my head, the ceiling of my room. The day of my birthday party...
I lay in my bed silently, waiting for the day to just be over. There's a knock on the door. I have my presents laying on the floor beside my bad, still in their boxes. My cheeks are sticky from the tears that are still streaming down my face. Why did she have to leave today of all days? It was my birthday! I let out a small sniffle, listening to the sounds in the house. I hear the door opening and the muffled sound of people talking. Who is it? What do they want?
I hear fragments of the conversation.
"He's quite.... You leaving."
"I know... about the whole thing..."
I get up and walk to the door, pressing my ear against it.
"Rain, where are you....? I want to say good-bye.... Ms. Harmon, can you tell rain that I said good-bye?"
"Sure thing." I hear the door opening and shutting again.
She came to say good-bye. Why couldn't I remember that? I know where she is.
I take off down the street.
