It took Michael approximately two minutes of standing there frozen and dumbfounded before he realised what he had to do, no, what he needed to do.

He had to follow her, he had to find her, hold her and never let her go again. He had to tell her how he felt and just how much she truly fucking meant to him. He had to tell Evie that she was his addiction, she was his happiness and she was what was fixing him and keeping him together.

I know you might think he's dumb or stupid for falling in love with a girl he met over Twitter two months or so ago. You might think he was an idiot for falling for a broken girl when he's just as broke and damaged inside.

But that's all besides the point.

He was going to find her.

And he did.

It took him two minutes to realise he needed to drive after her. Just two.

Two minutes more and he arrived at the road, less than a mile down from the place he'd last seen her.

Since he had seen her and her tear stained face after she told him she was leaving because she couldn't stand him seeing her in such a frantic state.

Two minutes.

And he did see her, he saw Evie.

He saw her body on the floor, being covered up.

Followed shortly by a man being thrown into a cop car, his face an emotionless mask, a gun sealed and bloody in an evidence bag and Evie's car crushed into a tree, all the windows shattered.

He saw Evie. But Evie was already gone.

It took Michael then two seconds to realise that if he hadn't he stood outside the forest dumbstruck and unable to move, he could of caught up to her and saved her, if he had driven a little faster he could of caught up to her.

Two seconds.

And it took him two milliseconds to make a decision for himself.

Two milliseconds.
