A little while later, Peyton walked down the stairs and made her way to the kitchen where I still was along with Linda and Paisley.

"You found your way to the kitchen! Yay!" Paisley smiled, clapping her hands together a few times.

"Paisley, it's not like this house is a maze," Peyton laughed, "it was a little hard to find the kitchen, though."

"If you need help sometime, just call for one of us. You got it?" Linda smiled, and it was followed by a nod from Peyton.

We turned on the news because Linda knew they would be talking about Peyton at that time of the day. The news reporters came to interview Paisely, Linda, Maria, and me in the hospital. I thought it was a little annoying, but I knew they were just doing their job. It seemed like they didn't respect our privacy, however.

"Peyton Claire Gray has been released from the hospital since we have been there, but she does have memory loss and will not get her memory back for quite a while. It seems like she's lost ten years of memory, and she believes it's 2006, not 2016. The doctors believe that she will get her memory back between two weeks and six months from now, even though it is not completely certain she will. 'Because of Peyton's condition,' the doctors say, 'we believe Peyton will receive her memory within a month, even though we aren't completely sure of that.'" The newscaster finished talking, and the news showed pictures from Peyton's crash and a few videos of us in the hospital with her.

"Doctors also tell reporters," the newscaster continued, "that Peyton Gray was pregnant at the time of the crash but had a sad miscarriage."

I tensed up when I heard that the doctors had revealed that to the reporters and that the reporters had actually put that in the news readings. I was shocked. I could feel two pairs of eyes on me, then another set was added, and I looked up at Peyton, biting my lip. She looked back at me, then behind me to see her mother and sister who I knew would both be enraged.

"What did that man say about my little girl? She was pregnant?" Linda got mad at me, and I turned around to defend myself.

"Linda, I- we didn't mean to. It was a serious mistake. I promise it won't ever happen again, as long as we're dating," I tried to calm her down. It seemed to help a little.

"I'm sorry," she looked down, "now I remember what you told me about you wanting to pr-"

"Don't!" I stopped her before she said the word "propose". I didn't want her to say it because I didn't want Peyton to know.

"Wait.. Is that why you were going to? Because she was pregnant?" Linda got mad again.

"I promise you, I didn't know she was pregnant until the doctor told me she miscarried while in the hospital. I swear I didn't know," I put my hand on her shoulder. She looked at Paisley for assurance.

"Listen to him, mum. I don't think he's lying about this. This is serious stuff. Why would he lie about this?" Paisley questioned her mother. Linda nodded.

"I know he wouldn't lie about this. I'm so sorry, Luke. It's just that so many things have happened in the past day or two, and it's been so hard. Now this, adding onto everything else. Wow," she sighed, "again, I'm really sorry."

"Everything will be alright, Mrs. Gray," I smiled at her. I hardly ever called her Mrs. Gray, but I wanted to say it then because I felt that it would make her feel better.

"Mum," Peyton began, and everyone looked at her. "I know I might not be able to remember anything that's happened for a long time before now, but I'd like to say that you can trust Luke. He hasn't shown to you a reason not to trust him, has he?"

"Well, Peyton, he did just keep the secret from me that you were pregnant and had a miscarriage. That's a reason not to trust him," Linda shrugged, but continued to speak. "Other than that, no. He hasn't showed me a reason not to trust him."

Peyton smiled. "He hasn't shown me any reason not to trust him, or not to love him. I know this is a long shot because I only remember knowing him since the hospital, but I believe that I do love him. He hasn't shown any reason not to.."

"I do love you, Peyton Claire. I know you do too, but you don't have to say it right now. I think that you should just get used to things around here and try to remember things before trying to start our relationship over again. If we just forget about our relationship for now and focus on you remembering everything, you'll remember a lot quicker," I put my hand on her shoulder and smiled at her.

"Okay. I'd like to remember. That would be great," she agreed.
