Even though she didn't remember me and even though we hadn't planned having a baby, we both took the news pretty hard. I knew that ever since she was little, she always wanted to have kids someday. Now that she had the opportunity to have a child, she lost it. I apologized.

"It's not you," she cried, "I was in the crash. It was my fault. I probably caused the crash."

"No, no, no, Peyton. You did not cause the crash. It was not your fault. It was that stupid man's fault. He was drunk, and he crashed into you, taking your memory and our baby," I teared up but held back the tears.

"I still think it's my fault. I was part of the crash, too. It definitely wasn't your fault because you weren't in the crash. It wasn't your fault the baby died at all."

"It's none of our faults, Peyton. We just know that it happened, and we can't help it now. Do you want to tell your mum, Paisley, and Maria what happened?"

"I don't know. Will they be okay with it? Are they okay with our relationship?"

"They love us together," I nodded. She smiled.

"I don't know, though. My mum told me even when I was little not to get pregnant at a young age."

"You're nineteen, though, Peyton. You're an adult. You can do what you want, and you don't have to follow her rules. Sure you still live in her house, but that doesn't mean you have to do everything she tells you."

"I-" she stopped, seeming confused, "I thought that since we were together, I lived with you."

"No, Peyton. You still live with your mother and Paisley. You don't live with me. They don't want us having a house to ourselves until we're married, mainly to prevent this from happening, I guess. Maybe we shouldn't tell them. Do you think that would be the best?"

"If you do too," she shrugged.

"Let's keep this between us. Let's not tell our families about the baby."

"Our lost baby," she teared up again but stopped herself from crying. She smiled at me.

"Even though you don't remember me, Peyton, please promise me you know that I love you," I held her hand in mine.

She nodded, "yes, I do... uh, what's your name again?"

"Luke," I told her, "Luke Robert Hemmings." Telling her that brought tears to my eyes.

"Okay. I know you love me, Luke. I'm just not sure yet if I love you too, you know, because I don't remember you or our... our relationship."

"That's okay, Peyton. Just remember that I love you," I kissed her hand, then set it down beside her and walked out of her room. I stepped sulkily into the waiting room, where Linda, Paisley, and Maria were. I told them they could come back again with Peyton and myself.

"Peyton," Linda cooed as we walked into the room. Peyton looked over at her and smiled, but you could tell she was crying a little.

"Is there something wrong?" Linda wondered, worried, "I saw the doctor coming back close to you room.. What did he say?"

Paisley and Maria both walked in behind Linda and in front of me. I stepped into the room and closed the door.

"Not much, really," she shrugged, "he told us that we l-" I gave her a warning look, and she caught on. She gasped and covered her mouth with her hands, then took them off seconds later, "he didn't say much, really."

"Hm, okay," Linda nodded, sitting in one of the chairs provided in the room. Maria took the other, so Paisley and I were left standing.

Stories were told in the hours that we sat in the hospital. We all shared stories we had of ourselves with Peyton. We were trying to get her to remember. We weren't having any luck, however.

"Do you remember that time when we went to the mall and you met Kasen? Do you remember how rude he was to you and how upset he made you?" Maria asked. I remembered who Kasen was because of one of Peyton's Skype calls. He was an asshole to her.

"No, I don't know anyone with that name. It's a cool name, though," Peyton smiled a little at Maria.

"Well, he was terrible to you. He was rude. He knew you had a boyfriend, but he still made sexual comments and he grabbed your butt."

"Why would he do that!?" Peyton exclaimed, not believing her best friend's story.

"He liked you, Peyton. It was terrible. You got so mad at him," she sighed. Peyton looked at me and had a scared look on her face.

"Peyt, babe, I'd never do something like that, if that's what you're thinking. Plus, I'm your boyfriend. It's not like when I'm with you, I'm with someone else's girl. You're my girl," I smiled, kissing her cheek. She slightly pulled away, not sure of me yet. I understood. I should just wait a while. Hopefully soon Peyton would remember me.
