Knight – Page (Exploit)
Mage – Seer (Know)
Thief – Rogue (Steal)
Maid – Sylph (Create/Repair)
Prince – Bard (Destroy)
Witch – Heir (Change)
Lord – Muse (Embody)
Now, what does this all mean? Well, let's take a look at another post of bladekindeyewear's, a Kid in King Arthur's Court and the list there.
This list details exactly what each class would do if you gave them a sword. (With some of my own comments of course.)
A Seer will show you how to hone the blade sharp enough to split solid rock asunder.
A Mage will apply his or her sword in battle like a surgeon, twisting him or herself around the other blades as if their attacks had already been announced beforehand.
Give a Prince their sword and they'll shatter it into a King's heart.
Give a Bard their sword, and whole armies will soon be swinging and breaking blades against each other.
Give a Sylph their sword, and they will mend both her allies' swords and their allies' allies as well.
Give a Maid their sword, and they'll craft five dozen more. (Though this is not counting after she keeps one of the swords for herself to repeatedly copy it so there are more on hand just in case. Maids are crafty I'll give them that.)
Give a Witch their sword, and they will swing it as an axe against one to her right, then thrust it as a dagger against one to her left.
Give an Heir their sword, and others' swords will bend, reshape, and move around him as though he were a nexus for their essence.
Give a Rogue their sword, and ally and enemy alike will find themselves with or without their swords at whim.
Give a Thief their sword, and they'll use it to hunt down a vast collection for her own gain (and possibly the gain of their allies as well, if it helps their own ends)
Give a Lord their sword, and they will use it to fell mighty armies, kill kings and take towns for themselves all with a single swipe of their blade.
Give a Muse their sword and they will use it to take their enemies swords, bless them with powerful magic, heal teammates, see how the battle will pan out, create a battle strategy, and then give the previously taken and blessed swords to their allies, before hanging the sword up over their mantle as decoration, and in case someone needs it later.
Give a Knight their sword, however, and they will cut down foes, mend armor, scale walls, unlock doors, perform alchemy, fell drawbridges, dice vegetables and stir stew, jumpstart cars, unclog their plumbing, clog an enemy's plumbing, and perform circus entertainment....all with the same, solitary, unchanged sword. And when hat sword finally breaks in half, they'll use the hilt as a dagger and use the tip as a doorstop.
Give a Page their sword, and they will train slowly, driven by the opportunities life hands him to use it, get better, stronger. As they do, they will share their enthusiasm with others, allowing their skill to encourage and bolster the wills and talents of their allies with their swords. Given enough time, they will lead not just an army, but an army of Knights!
Now what does this all mean? Well, let's take a look.
