Hey look another stupid headcanon by me here it goes. Since Rose is the seer of Light, and can see knowledge (duh,) when she meets the trolls, since it's been established in canon that ancestry often means continuing on their ancestor's legacy, and that lususi are probably most likely reincarnated ancestors, and when their lusus died the spirits of their ancestors still followed them around. Like, before Nepeta died, when Karkat and her did hang out, their ancestors would be so happy to finally see each other again, but after Nepeta died, when Rose meets Kanaya and Karkat, she usually sees The Dolorosa trying to calm the crying Sufferer. And when Sollux left with Aradia (or whatever I forgot), Rose saw The Psiioniic, The Sufferer, and The Dolorosa saying goodbye to each other. Later on, when Rose started taking on drinking she just wrote these visions off as her being too intoxicated to understand what was going on.
