A/N: Karkat has retinitis pigmentosa an eye disease in which the back wall of the eye (retina) is damaged. Retinitis pigmentosa is a rare, inherited degenerative eye disease that causes severe vision impairment. Also this kinda like a school!stuck to so yeah there's that. enjoy. or not what ever 

Karkat Pyrope knew that it would happen eventually that one day the light in his eyes would go out and that day so happened to be the first day of freshman year. He was sitting ideally in class kicking his legs back and forth underneath his desk paying close attention to what the teacher had to say when suddenly it happened. The world suddenly disappeared and he couldn't see a thing. He started to panic he didn't know what to do except raise his hand and tell the teacher. The teacher being fully aware of his situation rushed him to the principal's office and called his dad. Having to readjust to his new life he had to stay home for a few days before returning to school. His dad considered sending him to a school for the visually impaired but his brother Kankri convinced him that if he could survive without his sense of smell then Karkat could survive without his sense of sight. After the loss of his eyes Karkat got a visit from his now ex best friend Sollux Captor telling him that their friendship was over after resisting the urge to cry his eyes out Karkat got another visit from his kismesis Tavros Makara. He came by to tell him that their relationship was over. That was it after tavros left Karkat grabbed the nearest pillow and bawled his eyes out. Eventually Karkat had to go back to school and it felt like everyone was avoiding him and they were but soon freshman year was over and summer began and Tavros began seeing Karkat again.

After Karkat Pyrope went blind Terezi Vantas was the only one who would even try to get close to him. They were already good friends throughout elementary and middle school and after what happened to Karkat this only made them grow even closer until the point it felt like Terezi was coddling Karkat. Karkat got tired of being treated like he was broken and finally got the courage to confront Terezi about her behavior and afterwards she apologized and life went on until the end of the year.

Gamzee Nitram was an overly tall handicapped troll in a wheelchair who was completely oblivious about Tavros Makara's little flush crush on him. Gamzee was pushed down a flight of stairs by a frenemy named Sollux Serket after that Tavros clinged to him like marinara sauce to spaghetti not wanting to leave his side and just like what happened with Karkat and Terezi Tavros started to adopt this clingy personality but unlike Karkat Gamzee didn't have the guts to tell Tavros how he really felt and this continued till the end of the year and throughout summer.

Tavros Makara was a high blooded troll who could get away with murder because of his blood color until he met Karkat Pyrope and everything went down south. The two hated each other from the moment they saw each other and a black romance bloomed afterwards. They tried to keep their hatred for each other a secret but it was quite obvious that these two could not get along so they decided to come out to their friends on the last day of middle school and the two continued their hate filled relationship into the summer until the first day of high school rolled around and Karkat went completely blind. Tavros as well as Karkat knew that this would happen and when it did happen Tavros thought that it was the right time to end their relationship it just wouldn't sit right with him if he ended up accidentally hurting a blind troll not to mention Karkat's sympathy kind of grew on him. Tavros knew he'd be breaking Karkat's heart or spade or whatever you want to call it he just didn't want to hurt someone he hated at least no to the point of murdering him.
