Best Friend & Brother

▂▂▂▂

The second I walked into the living room, I was appalled by two things: the state of the living room - chips were scattered on the floor, pillows that were once arranged accordingly on the couch was halfway across the room and the smell of Indian takeout was fumigating the whole place -- and the noise Sophia and my twin brother Luke were making as they were making out on the couch.

For all these years, I learnt to deal with the constant messy state of the house but having Sophia and Luke making out in plain sight? I was having trouble dealing with that. I had grown immune to the mess but I wasn't entirely immune to Sophia and Luke being together.

One being Sophia being my best friend and Luke, well, being my brother.

"Gross." I muttered under my breath, contemplating whether or not sit down in front of the TV with them. I came down here expecting a serene atmosphere so I could watch my recorded episodes of Jane the Virgin but now that I knew my best friend and my brother chose this as their location to inappropriately eat each other's face off: I guess it'd have to wait another day.

"Can't you two grope each other somewhere else?" I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

Sophia pulled away from my brother and gave me an apologetic look while Luke looked over his shoulder, gave me a once-over, snarled at my choice of clothing (I was wearing my pajama shorts and a shirt that said BRING BACK THE MULLET. I thought I looked splendid) and then simply said, "Nah."

"You know what? Let's the get popcorn going! I haven't caught up with Jane the Virgin." Sophia grinned and untangled herself out of my brother's arms. She hopped over the back of the couch, linked my arm with mine and walked us to the kitchen like I didn't totally catch my brother's tongue down her throat.

I sat myself on the stool by the counter, watching Sophia walk to one of the cabinets to take out the popcorn kernels. She was wearing one of Luke's old band shirts with her mousy brown hair tied up messily. I watched her with a disapproving look.

One day you're sharing clothes with your bestest friend, the next she's wearing your brother's t-shirt.

She ripped open the box of popcorn, placing it inside the microwave and set the time before pressing the start button. Sophia leaned against the counter, her fingers drumming against the surface.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" She sheepishly asked, side-eyeing me, afraid of looking at me face to face.

"You're dating my brother!" I impulsively yelled, waving my arm over the general direction of the living room where Luke was still at. I groaned melodramatically, dragging my hand down my face as she rolled her eyes at me. Scoffing at her incredulously, I told her bluntly, "It's only a week ago I caught your naked ass in bed with Luke! You two didn't even let me adjust to this whole thing! One day we're crying over Me Before You, the next I see my best friend on top of my brother! It's... Unnatural!"

Sophia was facing me now, deadpanning at me, waiting for me to be done with my little rant but oh boy, I wasn't done. I was never going to be done. I don't care if they were each other's true love and I don't care if they end up having kids because goddamnit, I was never, ever going to get used to my best friend dating my very own twin brother.

"You're being a tad dramatic here, Lace. If I'm being honest." Sophia sighed, the microwave beeping madly in the background.

"I should be!" I yelled, again, it was an impulsive thing. You gotta give it to me though. I only found out they were dating behind my back just a week ago when I walked into Luke's room, asking if he had my history textbook, and saw them, well, fornicating. "How would you feel if you suddenly walked into me giving your dad a handjob?"
